Chapter 284 - Where is This?
The elite class was sucked into the black hole in front of the cliff in the desolate forest, only to be thrown out from another black hole before the cliff.
Once all twelve of them had been thrown out of the black hole, it immediately shrank and disappeared. The entire process didn’t take more than a minute, and everyone looked at Hebrew Adam with some concern.
Hebrew Adam calmly said, “It is said that the black hole will reopen at this time, fifty years from now.”
Hearing this, everyone felt slightly relieved and began to survey their surroundings. They had only briefly checked for any immediate danger before.
After examining the area and discussing it, they were sure they were no longer in the desolate forest, and it was very likely they weren’t even in the Gumera Star Domain anymore. The vegetation in front of the cliff was something they had never seen before.
Ruo Manni stared at the trees in front of the cliff, her heart pounding wildly. Then, her gaze became fixed on the ferns growing on the cliff.
Hebrew Adam cautiously scanned the surroundings. Once he determined that there were no large creatures or immediate threats, he relaxed slightly.
However, when he turned around, he saw Ruo Manni, who had always remained calm even after suffering heavy injuries, standing there quietly with tears streaming down her face, an indescribable sorrow in her expression.
Hebrew Adam’s heart tightened with worry. He hurriedly stepped forward and grasped Ruo Manni’s shoulders, urgently asking, “Ruo Manni, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? What happened?”
Looking at Hebrew Adam’s handsome face, now blurred through her tears, Ruo Manni suddenly realized her face was drenched with tears.
From the trees on the hillside and the vegetation on the cliff, she was now completely certain—she had returned to the Earth, the place she had longed for so much.
She had thought this was something that could never happen again. After all, it had been two lifetimes, in two completely different time and space realms. Under normal circumstances, how could this be possible?
But who would have thought she would have such a strange encounter? What seemed impossible had become possible, and she was, of course, extremely excited.
But who could tell her for certain whether this Earth was the same Earth from her previous life, and whether this time and space was the one she had once lived in?
Now, with such high hopes, only to fall into despair after gaining them, she was afraid she might go crazy.
However, Hebrew Adam, Hua Deli, Dean Atchison, and the others gathered around her because of her unusual behavior. The dozen or so people were all startled by her tears, their faces full of concern as they waited for her to speak.
But how could she respond? She couldn’t exactly tell them about her soul’s reincarnation.
“I don’t know,” Ruo Manni said. “This place feels so familiar, familiar enough that when I look at it, I just want to cry.” She couldn’t tell the truth, nor did she want to lie, so she phrased it delicately.
Because even if this was Earth, and not the time and space she was familiar with, there were still things she would recognize better than these people. She feared she wouldn’t be able to keep the truth hidden for long. She could only reveal a little bit of information for now and see how things developed later.
Ruo Manni knew she couldn’t hide her troubled heart from Hebrew Adam and Hua Deli. What she had said would likely be seen as an excuse by them, but since she had made it clear she didn’t want to talk, Hebrew Adam and Hua Deli, as she had guessed, didn’t press her further.
As her older brother, Hua Deli was able to accept that she had things she wasn’t willing to share. As long as it didn’t harm his sister, he could let it go without needing her to speak.
But as her partner, Hebrew Adam couldn’t easily accept it. His loved one clearly had something heavy on her mind, to the point of tears, but she still refused to confide in him. He couldn’t let it go so easily. With a serious expression, he gently wiped her tears away.
Seeing the expression on Hebrew Adam’s face, Ruo Manni’s discomfort eased considerably. She smiled at him and said, “Can I tell you when I’ve figured it out?”
Seeing that her emotions had calmed down, and realizing this was not the right place to talk, Hebrew Adam decided to put the matter aside for now.
“President, what should we do?” Su Forty-Three stepped forward to break the silence.
They couldn’t just stand here forever, could they?
“Let’s head down the mountain. Everyone, be cautious,” Hebrew Adam said.
Ruo Manni didn’t say anything. If this was Earth, regardless of the era, no creature could directly inflict a fatal wound on them.
The cliff they had come out of the black hole from was located on the upper part of the mountain. Since they were in a forested area, there was no need to search for a specific path—they could just head downhill.
As Ruo Manni walked, she observed the trees in the forest. When she saw the sparse grass growing in the forest, her suspicions were further confirmed.
However, there was one thing that seemed off. Ruo Manni looked at the temperature displayed on her holographic computer, and it was around seventeen or eighteen degrees Celsius. No matter what latitude they were at, it should have been autumn on Earth by this time of year.
But the trees in the forest were lush and green, and the grass was unusually vibrant, showing no signs of wilting or yellowing.
Moreover, the forest was unnervingly quiet—there were no insects to be seen. Standing in a sparse area of the forest, looking down, all she could see were layers of green trees. Could this be a foreign country? Aside from forests, no other place in China would have such lush vegetation.
Ruo Manni felt uneasy, which caused her to slow down a step. It was only then that she realized a black mass was charging toward them. Hebrew Adam, who was ahead of them, reacted quickly, drawing his knife and slashing at it.
The black mass was split into two pieces before it could even reach them, and when it hit the ground, everyone was horrified and instinctively took two steps back.
The small creature had been sliced in half by Hebrew Adam, but it still didn’t die. Its head, now the only remaining part, continued to stare at them with a fierce, almost desperate hunger in its eyes, as if it wanted to eat them.
“What the hell is this thing? It doesn’t follow the basic principles of biology,” Dean Atchison said.
Ruo Manni stared at the creature, which resembled a black cat, but was twice the size of an ordinary one. She also noticed that its body was already beginning to rot. When Hebrew Adam had cut it, dark red blood had splattered out, giving off a rancid, decaying smell.
Ruo Manni closed her eyes briefly, and a sinister thought crossed her mind. If it had been her in her past life, she would have never believed such a thing could happen. But after experiencing reincarnation, nothing seemed too strange anymore.
Ruo Manni broke a branch from a tree, walked up to the creature’s head, and with swift movements, she pricked and flicked it. A small, white crystal, about the size of a fingertip, was extracted. As soon as the crystal was removed, the creature’s head, still alive despite being separated from its body, immediately died.
“Is this a crystal core?” Hebrew Adam frowned and asked.
“It doesn’t seem like the crystal cores from the mutated beasts in our world,” Hua Deli said, examining it carefully.
Ruo Manni didn’t say anything but used water from her spatial device to clean the crystal before putting it away. Then, she spoke to her companions: “The creatures here might be very strange. Be extra cautious, and absolutely avoid being bitten, or you might get infected with something.”
Hebrew Adam and Hua Deli exchanged a glance. Both of them thought Ruo Manni’s behavior was odd since coming to this world—she seemed to know something about these creatures.
But the creature itself was indeed bizarre, and it was clear that they needed to be cautious.
