Chapter 71
‘It worked.’
I looked at the back of the Hero, who was emitting light from the Holy Sword, bright enough to illuminate the entire underground area.
‘Is it safe to say that she’s fully awakened now?’
Upon closer inspection, the Holy Sword’s appearance had changed slightly. It looked a little more ornate overall. The light blue color was more distinct, and the size had increased slightly.
Elysier’s face, standing before her, was stiff, clearly indicating that she was affected. Her reaction suggested that it was true.
Fighting against the Hero, the Demon Sword had died 89 times, each time writhing in excruciating pain as the body slowly purified itself. So, even if their skills were different, it was understandable that she would be tense.
“Mira.”
As he spat out chunks of intestine that had traveled up his esophagus, Brynhild, who had been heading towards the Demon King, turned to me with tearful eyes, pleading desperately.
“Please…… just hold on until I come back…… I beg you.”
I nodded obediently. Brynhild gritted her teeth, her face burning with vengeance, and charged at Elysier.
The Holy Sword and the Demon Sword clashed, creating an enormous spark and a circular shockwave. The shockwave swept through the already tattered left half of his body, scattering it everywhere.
I looked down. His entire body was a mess. His right arm was torn off, and from his abdomen to his left shoulder, his body was ripped open, exposing the flesh underneath.
About a third of his body had been torn apart, so it was understandable that when Elysier had heard the plan she refused, saying she didn’t want to do it because it was crazy.
‘I used to deal with these kinds of wounds every day.’
I leaned against the rock behind me. It was a wound that would be considered instant death for a normal person, but I was enduring it.
In addition to my body being naturally quite sturdy due to the complete awakening of my previous world’s soul, the main reason I was able to withstand this was the constant use of healing magic.
If I were left in this state, I would die soon. The only reason I was still alive was the healing magic.
‘I can use an Elixir for a full recovery, right?’
Of course, I didn’t rely solely on healing magic for this. I had brought an Elixir, which the Sword Saint had given me as a bribe, saying, “Please take good care of Karna,” so I trusted it and took this action.
The Demon King had guaranteed its performance. She said that even if I was more severely injured than I was now, the Elixir would heal me completely.
“You’ve finally become useful, Hero.”
“I’ll kill you!!!!!!”
Over there, Brynhild was overwhelming Elysier. It might be a bit extreme for a Hero, but it would be fine. Probably.
‘She’s definitely gotten stronger.’
They were evenly matched, with neither side gaining the upper hand. Even if Elysier wasn’t using his full strength, Brynhild’s physical abilities had noticeably improved.
As soon as she proved herself worthy of being a Hero, the Holy Sword was able to unleash its full power, and her movements were completely different now.
Every time the blue or golden light flashed, the surrounding terrain changed. Massive rocks were shattered without a trace, and the cavity widened like a prairie.
When the Hero’s movements showed no signs of slowing down and only accelerated, Elysier glanced at me. I nodded. It was time to retreat.
Elysier, having received my signal, lit up.
“Ugh?!”
Brynhild was sent flying by an enormous surge of magic. Elysier, having shaken off the Hero, sheathed her sword and opened her mouth indifferently.
“Not bad at all, Hero. If you had more time, you would have become even better. I look forward to a more enjoyable entertainment in the future.”
“Stop right there……?! Where do you think you’re going……?!”
As Elysier turned away, Brynhild gritted her teeth and got up. But Elysier blocked her path, mocking her.
“If you wish, I can play with you some more, but I doubt that person will survive without treatment. You seemed to care so much about him, but he doesn’t seem to be that important after all.”
Brynhild glanced back.
The golden irises shook violently at the sight of the blood puddle, which was so wide that it was almost unbelievable that he hadn’t died from blood loss, and his torn left half and severed right arm.
“Sa, Sa…… Sa……”
In her haste, she said that, but realizing the impossibility of the situation, her face changed from a frown to one of despair.
She clutched his left hand, which was barely attached to his body, with her right hand. The blood on my palm transferred to Brynhild’s hand. I smiled and opened my mouth.
“You’ve awakened the Holy Sword, haven’t you?”
“Is that important now?! Mira, you’re going to die!”
“I won’t die. Not from this.”
I had only spoken the truth, but Brynhild, thinking that my smile and answer were lies to comfort her, burst into tears.
“Huk…… I’m sorry, I’m sorry…… It’s my fault…… I’m so stupid…… Huwaaaaaang……”
Seeing her cry so miserably, my conscience pricked me. Maybe I had gone too far with the injuries.
In the original story, the Academy was half-destroyed, almost all the faculty members died, and there were numerous casualties among the students. I had thought that to match that scale, this level of injury was necessary, but perhaps I had gone too far.
If I left her any longer, something really bad might happen, so I gestured with my chin towards my left pocket.
“There’s an Elixir in here. Luckily, it doesn’t seem to be broken, so do you want to get it out for me?”
This was also part of the plan. When we were planning, I had told Elysier tha I put the Elixir in my left pocket, so I told her to deliberately avoid hitting that spot.
It was covered with all sorts of defense and protection magic, so it would withstand most impacts, but it wouldn’t withstand the Demon King’s strike.
“Ah, an Elixir……?! Uh, yeah! Wait a minute!”
At the mention of the Elixir, Brynhild frantically reached into his pocket. Her fingers tore through the fabric as she searched, and soon she pulled out a test tube-like bottle.
As expected, it was intact.
“Here……! Here’s the Elixir……! Drink it quickly……!”
Brynhild, with trembling hands, pulled out the cork and held the Elixir to my lips. Then, as she was about to tilt the bottle, she suddenly made a sad face.
“……What if you can’t swallow it and spill it?”
“What are you talking about all of a sudden?”
“I’ve heard that if you lose too much blood, your body becomes weak, and even if you put it in your mouth, you can’t swallow it properly…… What if you spill it and don’t recover properly?”
“Can’t you see that I’m talking to you just fine? Just tilt my head back and I’ll drink it. If you’re really worried, You can pour it into my mouth.”
I retorted, confused by her sudden concern. His appearance was a bit gruesome due to his torn body, but we were having a normal conversation, and her concern about not being able to swallow seemed out of place.
The green light of the healing magic was continuously healing him at a level that wasn’t noticeable.
“No…… That’s not okay……”
But Brynhild didn’t seem to be listening.
It was impossible for him to be too weak to swallow what was in him mouth, but with all the blood in front of her eyes and the thought that I was dying, her mind couldn’t function properly.
“How…… How do I…… Ah!”
Brynhild came up with a good idea and poured the Elixir into her own mouth. Then, with her cheeks slightly puffed out, she brought her face closer to mine.
As I realized what was about to happen, I tried to say that he could drink it by himself, but as he twisted his body, the hastily reattached left half of his body fell off again.
Seeing this, Brynhild’s eyes widened. With the Elixir in her mouth, she firmly held my head with her hands.
“Umm……”
Our lips met. Her tongue pushed its way in, creating a passage. I tried to push her tongue back, but she was faster.
Brynhild, with her tongue firmly pressed against mine, poured the Elixir into my mouth. A strange-tasting liquid flowed into my mouth, along with a slightly warmer liquid.
“Chulp…… Zuup……”
Brynhild made lewd slurping noises as she tried to move my tongue, which was stuck by her tongue. I tasted the slightly sticky liquid, not the taste of the Elixir.
Aside from that, the Elixir was indeed an Elixir. Just a mouthful was enough to completely heal his torn left half and severed right arm.
The sensation returned to his severed shoulder, and he could move his fingers normally.
I pushed Brynhild away, indicating that I was fine, but she remained stubbornly in place until he swallowed the last drop of the Elixir before finally letting go of my lips.
“Phew……! Are you okay? Are you okay, Mira? You’re not dead, are you? You’re not dead, are you?!”
The golden irises, filled with tears, anxiously checked my body.
“It’s a relief…… You’re alive…… I’m so glad……”
As soon as she confirmed that his body was completely healed, a sigh of relief escaped her lips. A tear that had been precariously hanging on her cheek, about to fall, slid down and landed on my body.
And.
“……”
As soon as her relief faded, Brynhild suddenly blushed, realizing what she had just done.
