Chapter 4: Beyond The Edge Of Fear

Four's face twisted into a maniacal smile, intentionally goading Jay further.

"I said your mummy and daddy didn't want you" he sneered

Jay's anger reached a boiling point, his fists clenched and ready to strike. But before he could act, a loud, commanding voice echoed from the corner of the room, where a figure emerged from the shadows.

"Enough!" the man thundered, his authoritative tone silencing the room.

"What's the meaning of all this nonsense? We have more important things to attend to than watch you two bicker like children."

The middle-aged man, likely in his early fifties, exuded an aura of power. His white hair and beard contrasted with his muscular physique, which was accentuated by his military-style trousers and singlet. His presence seemed to command respect, casting a spell of silence over the room. No one dared make a sound in his presence.

He looked at Jay who held Fours cloth with a tightly grip and his fist which was hanging in the air about to hit Four ,and with a menacing gaze towards Jay he let go of Fours cloth , even do he was hesitantly to do so, four after being let go by jay immediately began adjusting his cloths , giving a malicious smirk to him, which jay couldn't help but just control his anger.

The middle-aged man, code-named One, gazed at Jay, who still held Four's cloth in a tight grip, his fist hovering in the air. With a menacing gaze, Jay slowly released his grip on Four's cloth, though hesitancy lingered in his eyes. Four, now free, adjusted his clothes, flashing a malicious smirk at Jay, who struggled to contain his anger.

One shifted his attention from Jay and Four to Williams, whose face was etched with fear and panic. The events he had just witnessed had left him shaken. One's piercing gaze made Williams shiver even more, and he couldn't help but question his decision to join the team.

After a brief, intense stare, One finally spoke.

"So, you're the new recruit Eight brought to join our team. Anyways what truly matters isn't your appearance, but what you bring to the table. From now on, you'll go by the code name Thirteen. I'm your leader, One," he said, his eyes narrowing slightly as he paused, his gaze piercing.

"With time, I believe you'll get to know the rest of the team. Now that the introductions are out of the way, let's get down to business. It's time to begin what we're all here for."

One's words were met with unanimous agreement from the members present. He unfolded a blue print, spreading it across the table. The scattered members converged around the table, their eyes fixed on the layout as One began to brief them.

"The operation this time is unprecedented in scale and complexity," One said, his eyes scanning the room, his voice low and serious.

He paused, his gaze lingering on each member.

"The risks are high, with a real possibility of capture or even death. However, the potential reward is substantial, enough to set a man up for life."

One's eyes seemed to bore into each member, as if daring them to back down.

"Given the stakes, I'm offering each of you a choice: back out now, while it's still possible... or stay and risk everything."

Williams was very scared from what he just heard, and droplets of sweat began forming on his body as he tried to maintain his composure, swallowing his saliva heavily. He wondered if he had made the right decision, if the risk was worth it. The thought of not returning alive sent a shiver down his spine, but the alternative - continuing to be looked down on by everyone - was unbearable. He felt a surge of determination, knowing he had to see this through. The potential benefits could change his life forever.

Williams' thoughts were laced with a mix of fear and determination, and a crazed expression of excitement flickered across his face. But just then, the voice of the leader drew him out of his thoughts

"Kid, this is your last chance to either back off or risk it all for fortune, so what is your decision?"

Jay gazed at Williams with a worried expression, fearing he would turn down the offer. He knew Williams' timid personality all too well, and the mention of death had only made matters worse. But to Jay's surprise, and that of the other members, Williams spoke up with a confident look in his eyes.

"I'll stay... I mean, I'll risk it all for the fortune," Williams declared.

The leader, One, raised an eyebrow, a slight smirk playing on his lips, but it went unnoticed by the others.

"What did you say, kid?" One asked, his voice firm but curious.

Williams clenched his fist and gritted his teeth, determination etched on his face.

"I said I'm willing to stay and risk it all!" he repeated, his voice louder and more resolute this time.

One suddenly erupted into uncontrolled laughter, catching the other members off guard. They had all agreed to proceed when Williams was lost in thought, and now they stared at their leader with bewildered expressions.

One noticed the team's reaction to his outburst and composed himself, though his excited expression lingered. "Now that we're all in agreement."he said, his voice still tinged with enthusiasm.

"I think it's time we start planning the mission's details."

I'll add the phrase "He paused, studying the blueprint before continuing." to the passage:

The members' eyes were fixed intently on the blueprint before them, scrutinizing the red and black marks highlighting specific areas. One continued, his voice steady and calculated.

"Every year, by midnight tomorrow, J&W Banking Cooperation transfers approximately one billion dollars in cash to their Saga City headquarters. Typically, they use five heavily armored vans for transportation, but according to my intel, they'll be using six this time." He paused, studying the blueprint before continuing.

"Our plan is straightforward: intercept just one of the vans – the one with the highest success rate."

The members exchanged confused glances upon hearing One's words. Just then, a man with the code name Two raised his hand to ask a question. After receiving a nod from One, he spoke up.

"Why can't we just attack all six billion vans?" Two asked, his tone laced with curiosity.

"We have the manpower, and taking out all six would mean getting the entire amount for ourselves."

The other members present looked intrigued, clearly wondering the same thing as they awaited One's response.

"A billion-dollar van carrying over a billion dollars wouldn't move without heavy security," One explained.

"That's what makes this mission so perilous. We're not the first to attempt this, and none of those who came before us returned. That's why we'll be targeting just one van – it's the safer option."

The members present nodded in agreement, understanding One's reasoning as he continued to outline the plan. "The operation is straightforward. We'll intercept the billion-dollar van passing through Saint Maria Road, as I believe it will be less heavily guarded compared to the other five vans taking longer routes."

One paused, surveying the room to ensure everyone was following. "Here's the plan of action: Six and Five will handle the vehicle, while Three, Four, and Eight will accompany Six to intercept the van from the front."

He leaned in, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "Meanwhile, Two, Nine, Ten, and I will intercept the van from the back, along with Five. We'll also take out the remaining security guards from the rear, while Three, Four, and Eight handle the security at the front.

"Once we've secured the van, Eleven, Twelve, Seven, and Thirteen will plant explosives to blow open the heavily armored doors. You'll also be responsible for transporting the money to the cars, while we provide cover."

One's eyes locked onto the team's, his gaze intense. "The entire operation will take place within a ten-minute time frame. Are there any questions or suggestions?"

The members present nodded in confirmation of the plan, their faces alight with excitement and enthusiasm as they began whispering among themselves.

Four spoke up, "It's a cakewalk – in and out, no problem." The room erupted into a chorus of laughter and chatter as the members discussed the plan.

One, however, stood apart, his expression unreadable as he surveyed the room with his arms crossed. His gaze suddenly fell upon Williams, and he was taken aback. Unlike the others, who had relaxed and were chatting, Williams stood intently examining the blueprint.

One observed him for a moment, intrigued by Williams' focused demeanor. He couldn't help but approach him.

"Kid do you have anything on your mind or do you want to say anything concerning the plan ."

Williams' eyes widened in surprise at One's sudden question, and he looked at him with a nervous gaze. He struggled to gather his thoughts, trying to formulate a response. The other members, including Jay, turned to him, awaiting his reply. Jay's stunned expression reflected his concern for Williams, but he knew he couldn't intervene now.

Williams' response, however, caught them all off guard.

"If we go in the way you said, we'll probably all die," he said in a low, anxious voice, his words laced with trepidation.

Here's the revised paragraph with added expressions:

The members present stared at Williams with a mix of surprise and curiosity, their eyes wide with wonder. Jay's face turned bright red as he buried it in his hands, mortified, and let out a frustrated sigh. Four, however, was dissatisfied with Williams' words and spoke up in an indignant tone, his voice dripping with disdain.

"What are you saying, kid?" Four asked, his brow furrowed in annoyance.

"If you don't know what to say, then keep quiet and don't spout ridiculous nonsense. I have no idea why someone like you joined us in the first place. You're clearly scared of a little danger."

Four's irritated gaze fell upon Williams, who cowered in fear, his eyes downcast, dared not speak another word. The room fell silent, the tension palpable, as all eyes remained fixed on Williams. However, One, the leader, disagreed with Four's viewpoint and actions.

"Continue, kid," One demanded, his expression seemingly interested in what Williams had to say, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned forward on the round table, awaiting Williams' response.

Jay's hands dropped from his face, his eyes widening in surprise. He clearly hadn't anticipated the sudden, strange reaction from One.

Williams, still nervous and shaking, spoke up reluctantly.

"What I mean is, I feel like things aren't quite right. How can robbing a heavily guarded billion-dollar van be that easy? I feel like it might just be a trap, but I'm not sure either."

The leader, stroking his beard thoughtfully, glanced at the blueprint with a skeptical look.

"I've been having the same doubts as you."he said, his expression stern and serious.

"Your words have confirmed my suspicions. There's indeed something off here. What if the way we're planning to attack them is exactly what they're expecting, and they're prepared for us?"

Williams' confidence surged as he heard One's words of support.

"Exactly," he said, his voice firmer than before.

"I feel like we're walking into a trap."

The leader's gaze bore into Williams, his expression stern and serious.

"Do you have any ideas, kid?" he asked.

Williams lowered his head, taking a deep breath to gather his courage. He looked up at the gathered members, his eyes locking onto theirs.

"I think we should scrap the original plan," he began, his voice steady.

"It's too predictable, too easy to counter. Instead, I propose we use a different approach, one they won't see coming."

After a lengthy discussion, the group finally solidified a plan, thanks to Williams' constant stream of ideas. The leader surveyed the exhausted members and glanced at the time, 7:37 p.m.

"Williams, you've done an outstanding job today," he said, a hint of admiration in his voice.

"You're indeed a smart kid, just as Jay told me." He paused, his gaze sweeping the room.

"It's time for us to head home and prepare for tomorrow's operation. I'll send you all the coordinates for our meeting point tomorrow."

The leader's eyes locked onto Williams, a nod of approval accompanying his words.

"Get some rest, everyone. Tomorrow's going to be a big day."

Williams stepped into his apartment, where his uncle looked up in surprise at his early arrival.

"You're home early today," his uncle said, a hint of concern etched on his face.

"Is everything okay?"

Williams smiled warmly, reassuring his uncle.

"I promised you I'd try to come home early, didn't I?"

His uncle's expression turned awkward, and he scratched the back of his head.

"I didn't mean for you to come home this early, though. It's only 8:34 p.m. You usually roll in around 11:00 p.m. or even later."

Williams stepped onto the rooftop, the night air a stark contrast to the warmth he'd shared with his uncle hours before. He walked to the edge, the city lights twinkling below, and stood lost in thought.

"Uncle, I'm really sorry," he whispered, "but I have to do this. I'm tired of being mocked and belittled. I want to take control of my life and rise above it all." His eyes blazed with determination.

He paused, the wind rustling his hair.

"Maybe, just maybe, I can change my fate." The words hung in the air, a promise to himself, as he stood there, poised on the edge of a new beginning.
