BLACK CLOVER: Through the Looking Glass

Chapter 5: 005

Inside Black Bull base stood Captain Yami, in front of whom stood Wilhelm, Asta, and Noelle, behind whom stood Luck, and Magma, while Vanessa was drinking herself away in the corner.

Taking a huff from his cigarette, Yami jerked its ash off and blowing smoke from his nostril said, "Okay, your first mission, so listen carefully because I'm not going to repeat myself. We are given two missions, so here you go. One is in Saussy Village where you have to go and investigate something about Pigs and the other is where you have to fight some bandits in a Vale Village. Select which you want between yourself. I am going. And Magma, you are going to Saussy Village."

Saying these words, Captain Yami left the scene and immediately Luck pounced in the air, and as if shadowboxing said, "I am going to fight the bandits."

"You were going to be sent there anyway." Magma said as he turned to Asta and said, "Shrimpasta, you are coming with me."

"Then I am going with you." Wilhelm said pointing to Luck, who seemed to have ignored it due to his half-glazed eye.

Seeing this, Noelle found herself without a group and asked, "Then who is going with me?"

Ah…if she goes with Luck, he will ditch her to fight. Same with Wilhelm. Previous incident including him is not out of her mind.

Magma thought as he grumbled internally and finally said before Wilhelm could make some comment, "Then ya' 're with me, your awesome senior, Magma the Great."

"Hmph, then it will be your greatest honor."

"And your greatest regret."

"Hahahaha" Wilhelm quipped in response to Noelle which caused Asta and Magma to burst into laughter, something that Noelle took personally and then floating her grimoire up shouted, "How dare you!" and summoned a ball of water, trying to launch it at Asta, because he was the only one in her subconscious mind she could safely target.

But before the ball of water could shoot any further, it fizzled in its spot, and water fell on her feet instead.

"My~Noelle…in front of everyone? Have some shame~"

"I-It-It isn't LIKE THAT!!"

"Ummhmm…whatever you say~"

Wilhelm said cheerily as he moved out of the room with a pep in his step.

"It really isn't like that? You yourself!" Noelle shouted as she started to follow after him.

"Shirmpasta."

"Yes, Magna the Great!"

"…You are my favorite in Black Bull."

"Thank you!"

"Don't shout."

"…Thank you?"

Soon after, everyone left for their respective mission. On one place, Asta and Noelle were traveling on Magma's broom, on the other side were Wilhelm and Luck who were moving on their own respective broom. It took them quite a while to reach Vale Village which was equidistant from the Royal Capital as it was from the Hage Village, but in just diametrically opposite direction.

The journey after expanding as much of their precious magic but they managed to reach the place before night fall. As soon as they landed on the ground, Wilhelm said getting off of the broom, "Let's go to an inn for the night."

"Why? We should just go and fight bandits. A punch there, and a kick there."

"No."

"C'mon, it will be fun." Luck said, getting too close to comfort Wilhelm who said, "No. Instead of looking around for them, it is better to go to an inn. They will come to us instead. It is not like they will pillage the empty forests." Saying that Wilhelm did not give Luck any time to speak because he knew that if he were to listen to Luck anymore, they would be bound to do something reckless.

"Fiinnneeee…you are no fun." Luck whined as he followed behind Wilhelm.

"Until then, would you fight me?"

"No."

"Why?"

"*sigh* You know what, let's fight."

"Really!?"

"Yes, but we will fight only once, let's go on the count of one to three. If you manage to make your opponent concede or beat them to unconsciousness, you will win. Got it?" Wilhelm asked with a firm and serious look.

"Yeah!! Let's begin." Luck asked visibly excited with electricity crackling around him.

"Okay. One…Two…ThreeIGIVEUP!!"

"…"

"You win. Now you can't ask for a fight again."

Wilhelm spoke with a smug face as he walked away with a pep in his step followed behind by a sad Luck…well, we can assume he was sad even though he was smiling from ear to ear.

Before entering the village, they had already put their robes away so that no one would recognize them as magic knights, and due to Wilhelm's getup and his using his magic to make people think that was carrying a cart that had items to sell, posing as a merchant, he painted a big fat target on his back, and finally went to an inn.

The inn was the best…in this village. Entering the dingy wooden place, Wilhelm reached the counter where a man with a bald patch and web-like strands of hair was sleeping with his mouth open, drooling on the table forming a small puddle. The inn was lit by oil lamps that cast long shadows.

As the pair entered, the man remained unresponsive being deep in sleep.

"Hmm…he is asleep. Let's go and fight instead." Luck said impatiently.

Oh God, where is Magna the Great, our Savior?

"I cannot believe I am saying this, I am jealous of Noelle. Ah, it hurts just saying this." Wilhelm said with dead eyes and then walked up to the man, and getting in his character took his hand back and…

*SLAP*

…slapped the man hard on his bald head.

One could say he did this to play the part of a douche merchant, while others could say he did this just because he wanted to slap his bald head, what matters is that he slapped his bald head which caused his face to slide on his own drool and fall onto the ground head first.

"Who 're ye'!" The man shouted in a grave tone.

***

"We want a room. One for me and the other for my friend here." Wilhelm said in a gaudy tone with a signature look of superiority. But seeing it, the bald man who was probably drunk as well squinted his eyes and releasing an unpleasant breath said, "Do ye' h've mone'?"

"More than your entire generation has ever seen you drunkard. Now stop wasting my time and fetch me my room."

"Aye' ye'r mah'jesty…"

He said sarcastically as he went to take the key and started to walk inside one of the small passages, with Wilhelm and Luck following him. The room they were led to was on the first floor itself. Opening the door that creaked as if it had not been oiled.

"You call this a room?" Wilhelm said in a firm tone pointing to the inside of the room that was covered in dust all over from a broken mattress to a cracked mirror.

'He is not even trying anymore.' Wilhelm thought as he entered the room and this time, feeling righteous rage in his heart, Wilhelm shouted, "WHAT IS THIS?! Do you expect us to sleep in such a dirty room? This is unfit for a person of my standing!"

But this did not affect the person who turned around and started to leave, but Wilhelm gave a sharp kick to his bum, that left him in agony clutching his crotch. And then both of them entered the room.

Just as he entered, Wilhelm snapped his finger and covered the entirety of the room with a thin layer of glass. Then he turned to Luck and said, "Now you can speak."

"Why did you treat him like that? Aren't we here to fight the bandits?" Luck said as he crashed on the bed that was covered with a jelly-like layer of glass.

Turning to him, Wilhelm said, "Read the report that was sent to us. ALL of the victims of bandits were not natives, but travelers or passersby instead. And those passersby happened to not be magic knights always. Almost as if someone gave information to bandits about the person who has seen them up close.

And from my experience of living in these parts of the kingdom, this thing involves someone that people interact with instead. Someone like a gate guard, a notable merchant, or an inn keeper.

Seeing the uncaring way he handled a potentially rich customer only feeds my suspicion, and by treating him like trash, I most probably have hastened the process where he informs those he is in with and brings them to us quickly."

"And if you are wrong?"

"Then I would have hit a bald head." Wilhelm said nonchalantly as he waited for their enemies to come.

In the dead of night, in the same inn where Wilhelm and Luck were staying, a group of people was assembled outside. The one thing common about the group was that all of them had grimoire in their person. One of them, who had a good build and good looks other than some scars on his face asked the bald man, "So, you are saying that some rich merchant is staying here, huh?"

"Ye' boss. Had gold all oe'r h'm and acted 'ame as those f'rm rich *burp* city. The'r carriage is the'r." He ended pointing at the carriage that was made of the finest of wood and white horses.

As the 'Boss' saw them, his eyes glinted with greed, and pointed to the rest of his crew, he said, "Okay everyone, we will go and 'borrow' these merchants belonging. If they resist, injure them, or threaten them, but under no circumstance kill them or give them any lasting injury.

The last thing we want is to be shifted in those magic knights' lists from bandits to murderers. Understood?" He said focusing his eyes on everyone who nodded hurriedly.

Then he turned and said, "Let's go."

With that said, the rest of the people with him entered the inn with the bald man who was planning to get one up on that bastard of a person who behaved as if everyone in the world was beneath him.

"Here, they are staying here." The bald man whispered at which the leader eyed a man who stepped forward with his grimoire floating and muttered, "Iron Magic: Iron Fist" and then his fist turned to iron and he smashed it into the door, and then everyone quickly stormed inside.

"GET ON THE GROUND AND HANDOVER YOUR VALU…able?" The ending word came out of habit when he saw that, he along with his party was standing in a corridor.

Seeing it, the last person who entered, turned around and saw that, "Where is the door?" door had disappeared. Seeing this, their leader looked at the corridor which now had a gate at the end of it.

Red gate.

Red gate that looked eerie to him.

Gulping a mouthful of air, his face contoured as he almost felt bile in his mouth and gagged.

"What is that gawd aw'ful sm'l?" One of them said as he covered his face with his hands as he choked on the air as well.

"It smells like something died in h're. Like that ol' bu'chers had."

"Where did you bring us Frank?" The boss said to the Bald Man named Frank, who shrugging his one hand while keeping other at his nose spoke in a nasal tone, "I don't know whe'r we at boss. Th's was all spos'ed to be a dirty ol' room."

"This does not seem like an old roo-"

"BOSS! THERE! LOOK!!!" One of the men shouted at the top of his lungs, pointing in the direction of the door in front of a coiled figure with long black hair. The figure appeared to belong to a girl about the age of 8.

The thing the caused the hair to rise off their back was that it was the blood that was pooled underneath her and was slowly flowing towards them.

Snapping his head to Frank with an enraged expression, the boss thundered as he grabbed Frank's collar, "The Hell Frank! What have you gotten your self into!? We steal things! We don't deal with kidnapping, you piece of sh*t!"

"I did nothi-"

*ROOAAAR*

Then with a roar, the world around them went black and when its colors returned and with it came…

"THE F*CK IN TARNATION IS THAT?!"

…the girl standing a few meters in front of them with hair that flowed as if with blood, but her face.

Her face was torn apart as if it was chewed by an animal, her lower jaw hanging, one of her eyes missing and the other was hanging from the socket, but even still through the darkness of the sockets, it looked as if she was staring into their very soul with a monovalent intent.

Seeing this, all of them stopped, unable to come to terms with what was in front of them when one of them shouted.

"R-R-RUN!!!"

And hearing this, all of them started to bolt out from the door that none of them realized reappeared, but with one distinct difference.

The Door was Red.

*BANG*

With the sound of a door shutting with great force, the boss turned around with sweat drenching his entire body, he said, "What was that? WHAT WAS THAT?!"

He shouted breathlessly which was met with absolute silence, when one of the people there said meekly, stuttering throughout.

"Ma-ma-maybe it is a gh-gh-GHOS-wh-AAHHHH!!!!"

But as he was about to end his sentence, a pair of hands appeared from the ground, grabbed his leg, and dragged him along where they came from as he scratched the floor and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"EDDY!"

Boss shouted as he tried to grab Eddy but he was too late and could only clasp onto empty air.

"…"

Empty silence.

All of them were not able to grasp the gravity of what had happened. All of them were too shocked to realize what had happened here.

"Run."

Once again, they tried to push into the gate, only to discover that there was no door behind them. In fear, they turned back where their ally had disappeared moments ago, but found that they were somewhere else entirely. Now they were no longer in a narrow passage but inside of a large field without a grimoire.

From the distance, they could see the light in the city and they realized that at present they were at an open field near the farming fields.

"How…'re 'e h're?" Frank asked in his unique accent when…

*WHOOSH*

*CRACKLE*

"AHHH-"

*THUD*

…a blue blur crashed into the group and threw people around, moving a dust cloud in the air.

"WHO IS IT?!"

*ZOOM*

*CRACKLE*

"Hahahahaha~ I'll tell you if you would fight me." A voice that cackled with mischief said as it hit another group of his men and was thrown away.

"FACE ME LIKE A MAN INSTEAD OF HIDING AND ATTACKING LIKE A RAT!!"

"Okay~"

*BAM*

"By bose!!!" (My nose)

The boss shouted as his nose was broken by a punch of Luck and hit his back with the tree, which caused his eyes to bulge eye in pain, and throw his head back in pain.

'Damn it, who are they? Why are we here? What happened?'

*THUD*

As he was thinking this, the body of Frank was thrown beside him, with his bald head having red palm that had turned his scalp bloodied.

"Well, how did 'Facing like a man' go?" Wilhelm asked as he kicked his head, making him spit blood and taste dirt and iron in his mouth.

Looking at Wilhelm, he asked, "Bo bar boo?" (Who are you?)

"Boo…ba boo?" Wilhelm said with a confused face.

"Boo, I bean bo bar boo?" (Noo, I mean who are you?)

"You know what, I am not doing this."

*SMACK*

Wilhelm said as he kicked the boss unconscious.

Then he turned to Luck who had rounded up everyone and said, "You done there?"

"Wait a minute."

*Kicks a person*

"Done."

"Good then. Let's round them up and go to base quickly." Wilhelm said and without waiting for a response snapped his fingers, following which a shard of glass started to form a shiny rope and gather up people. After that, the ground beneath them turned to a transparent platform, and as if carrying a balloon, Wilhelm carried back the people to their broom and then took to the skies, giving people once in a lifetime sight of people floating in the sky, and starting the legend of Flying Carpet.

"Captain Yami~" Wilhelm said in a sing-song voice as he sauted into the bathroom and opened the door.

"What? I am taking a dump. Can't you see?" Yami growled at the end but Wilhelm kept that annoying smile on his face and said, "Well come quickly. We have apprehended the bandits."

"Get lost!"

*BAM*

*SHATTER*

*CRASH*

"I am tired of it."

Yami conceded seeing that Wilhelm sent another of his magic thingies.

*FLUSH*
