Billionaire in Kingsman with a Marvel System

Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Failing to Lure, Trying to Cheat

The next morning, after waking up and getting ready, Jesse and two maids entered the master bedroom, bringing William's clothes. As they helped him dress, Jesse informed him that Old Smith had invited him for breakfast. William checked his watch; it was already 9 AM. If Smith had the leisure to invite him for breakfast, things must have been going well with the operation.

Jesse led William to Old Smith's private residence in Caesar's Palace. As they exited the elevator, William noticed an increased number of security personnel in black suits and white shirts, all wearing earpieces. Scanning the area with his mental energy, he realized these guards were armed with pistols, and some even had Uzis hidden under their clothes. This made William tense up, wondering if the old man was planning a trap.

Before he could enter, he heard Old Smith's voice, "Good morning, William. How did you sleep last night?"

William smiled and replied, "Quite well. I'm very pleased with the hotel's service. So much so that I wanted to invite Jesse to work for me, but she's still considering it."

Smith looked at Jesse and said, "Jesse, I'm promoting you to Vice President of the hotel's service department, with a 30% salary increase."

Jesse's face lit up with gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Smith. I will work hard and not disappoint you."

William rolled his eyes, feeling a bit annoyed. It seemed that working for him wasn't attractive enough. Frustrated, he said, "Alright, let's have breakfast. This news is quite disappointing, Jesse."

Smith laughed, pleased that his management skills hadn't failed him. Jesse, whom he had been grooming and observing closely, had not been swayed by William. Jesse, meanwhile, apologized to William, saying she couldn't leave Caesar's Palace, considering Smith's kindness.

After breakfast, where Smith admired William's hearty appetite, they took a walk on the rooftop garden of Caesar's Palace. The rooftop had been transformed into a private garden, complete with lawns, flowers, trees, and a pavilion. William couldn't help but admire Smith's ability to enjoy life; maintaining such a garden in the desert of Las Vegas must be costly.

As they strolled and chatted for about ten minutes, Smith led William to a seat, where they sipped coffee. "Things are progressing well," Smith began. "I've received several calls this morning from people wanting to get involved in the Beautiful People Hotel Group. The stock price has dropped 16% since the market opened, and Tony has likely made around a billion dollars. If this continues, the stock could halve. Tony is using convertible bonds, and if he sells his futures, our bonds could become a significant stake in the Beautiful People Group."

Smith paused, sipping his coffee, and then continued with a smile, "William, have you considered becoming a shareholder in our group? The hotel and tourism industry in Las Vegas has a promising future, with annual revenue growing steadily. An investment now could triple in ten years."

William knew what Smith was implying and responded with a chuckle, "You seem to be short on cash?"

Seeing the teasing look on William's face, Smith sighed, changing his tone, "To fully acquire the Beautiful People Hotel Group, we need to complete over half of the share purchase quickly. If we delay, other groups might step in, turning this into a drawn-out battle. We also need to keep enough cash on hand to fend off any potential threats to Caesar's Palace. So, we're hoping you can help us."

"And how exactly can I help you?" William asked, puzzled.

"William, the average person might not know, but I do. Don't forget, when you played against Stark, you provided a $3 billion cash certificate from the Swiss National Bank. We're hoping to borrow $3 billion from you, using 12% of Caesar's Palace Group's shares as collateral, for one year. We'll pay you back $3.3 billion after the term."

The offer of a 10% annual interest rate was tempting, but William refused without hesitation, "No. Cash is king right now. I've already planned for that money. With the stock market so low, I could buy shares in big companies and easily double my investment."

Hearing William's blunt refusal, Smith realized that getting money from him was unlikely. "Then we hope to pay your commission in stock."

Smith signaled to a group of lawyers, who quickly approached with briefcases. After greeting William and Smith, they handed William a folder of documents and then stepped back.

William opened the folder and skimmed through the documents, noting that most were for English companies, with a few European ones. There were no American companies listed, which made William angry. However, he finally found something of interest: the English Electric Company, with a document showing 16% of its shares.

Mentally calculating, William noted that English Electric's market value was around £4 billion, roughly $5.3 billion. Considering this, he thought about possibly acquiring the entire company during the financial crisis, as he had plenty of knowledge in the electricity sector.

Tossing the documents aside, William said, "Only English Electric interests me; the rest don't. Mr. Smith, this is quite insincere of you."
