Beloved Bride: Captured by the Top Playboy

Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Struggle 1

"So what do you say? Why did you come here in the middle of the night? And how did you know the password?" Suxin asked again.

"This is my house, of course I know the password, and I come back whenever I want!" Chen Ziqian yelled angrily. How did he end up meeting such an unreasonable older woman? Suddenly, Chen Ziqian recalled something, "And you, why are you here at my house at such an hour, dressed like that?" Chen Ziqian pointed at Suxin, who was in her pajamas.

"This is my house, of course I live here. I've been living here for three years!"

"What? Three years? You say you've been living in my house for three years?" Chen Ziqian was utterly surprised.

"This is my house, of course I live here!" Suxin emphasized, not easily fooled.

"Okay, if you say this is your house, then show me the deeds!"

"Deeds? You'd have to ask the landlord about that. I'm renting this place!" Suxin became suspicious at this point, wondering if this guy could be a potential tenant the landlord wanted to bring in.

"The landlord?" Now Chen Ziqian finally realized, "You're talking about Wang Mingfei?"

"Yes, that's him!" Sure enough, her landlord was named that. Saying this, Suxin finally put down the kitchen knife, pushed up her glasses on her nose, and asked, "I see now, are you the new tenant the landlord was trying to bring in?"

"Tenant?" Chen Ziqian was surprised. What was this older woman thinking with such a rich imagination?

"I was saying, if you were going to come, you should have come during the day. Who moves in in the middle of the night?" Knowing it was all a misunderstanding, Suxin relaxed, feeling extremely sleepy all of a sudden.

"Alright, you handle it. It's late, and I'm going to sleep." Saying this, without waiting for Chen Ziqian to respond, she went back to her own room and with a "bang" shut the door.

"This… this…" Chen Ziqian watched everything, speechless, no matter how late it was, he pulled out his phone and dialed Afei's number.

"Hey, Afei, tell me, why did you rent out my house to an older woman? She almost mistook me for a thief," Chen Ziqian blurted out accusingly.

"Haha, she thought you were a thief? Haha, that's just too funny!" On the other end of the phone, Afei couldn't stop laughing. He had been wondering all day what Chen Ziqian's reaction would be if he saw another woman in his house.

"Funny? Try waking up in the middle of the night to an older woman threatening you with a kitchen knife. How would you feel?" Chen Ziqian said angrily.

"Isn't everything resolved now? Since it's resolved, that's good. It's fine now. Go wash up and sleep. I'll come back to T City and welcome you properly!"

"What? You're saying I should just sleep peacefully when suddenly there's an older woman living in my house and occupying my room? And how could you rent out my place without asking me? I entrusted you to look after it, not to rent it out!"

"Aren't I taking care of it by renting it to a beauty? I'm improving the yin and yang flow in your house, boosting popularity, and she keeps your place so clean. Tell me, all my efforts are for you, aren't they?"

"Oh great, all the good things come from you, eh? Fine, when you get back, you better get her out! I don't care how you do it!" Chen Ziqian angrily hung up the phone. He didn't want to deal with that troublesome older woman anymore. Fine, he would tolerate her for a few days! Once Afei returned, he would kick her out!

Having been fired, Suxin woke up at noon the next day, glanced at the room opposite, the door was closed, and the guy must have gone out. Hungry, Suxin ran outside the community and bought fast food. She usually lived like this, only on weekends could she enjoy homemade dishes at Liu Haoran's.

After eating, Suxin went to the supermarket and bought a bunch of snacks. Being heartbroken and jobless, indulging in snacks was her biggest stress reliever, so how could she not eat?

Clutching a big stash of snacks, Susu returned home and started munching away, while simultaneously firing up her computer to watch a movie. Though Stephen Chow's films were quite old, their humor remained timeless. Right now, this was exactly what she needed!

She laughed heartily as she ate, even tearing up a bit, snack wrappers and crumbs littering the floor.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Susu picked it up—it was a call from Xiaoyan.

"Susu, I've set it up for you. Seven o'clock tonight at Jazz Island Coffee."

"Set up what?" Susu turned down the movie but couldn't help laughing at the hilarious scenes on screen.

"A man, of course! Let me tell you, this one is a catch. He's the son of a good friend of my aunt's, an IT guy, honest, earns good money and I hear he's pretty handsome too, but..."

"But what?" Susu caught the crux of the matter, shifting her focus to the call. Was Xiaoyan really setting her up on a blind date?

"He's a bit older, five years older than you!"

Hearing the age difference, Susu's heart sank, "That would make him thirty-four? That old?"

"Susu, a man is like a flower at thirty-one, and at thirty-four he's at his prime. How about it, give it a shot?"

"Xiaoyan, I just got out of a relationship two days ago. Isn't it too soon to go on a blind date? Won't people think I'm a bit desperate?"

"Desperate? You, desperate? Let me tell you, Susu, you're not still hung up on that jerk Liu Haoran, hoping he'll come back to you one day, are you?"

"How could I? Even if that shameless jerk comes crawling back to me crying, I wouldn't take him back!"

"When have you ever broken up without making a scene, yet not gone soft afterwards?" Xiaoyan was skeptical. She had witnessed their breakups countless times over the past eight years, and didn't they always end in reconciliation?

"This time it's different; he cheated, and he was the one who broke it off," Susu's voice fell.

"Can you guarantee you won't get back together?"

"If we get back together, I'll chop off my head and let you kick it around like a ball!"

"Alright then! Let's go on that blind date tonight!"

Seven o'clock at night, Jazz Island Cafe.

When she saw the so-called high-quality man, Susu nearly jumped in shock. Handsome? He was as dark as a monkey, more precisely, a chimpanzee! He seemed honest, smiling foolishly at Susu after uttering just a few words, but she wasn't sure if he was truly naïve or just dumb.

"Miss Cheng, do you think I look very dark?" the supposed high-quality man asked, blushing with a timid smile, his voice rather deep.

"Well... I think it's fine." No matter how much she thought he looked dark, that was a thought she would keep to herself—Susu would never say it out loud.
