Jack nodded in agreement. "Your confidence and insight are what set you apart, son. Keep that up, and you'll go far, not just in wrestling, but in life." Sandro smiled, their words bolstering his resolve. "Thanks, Mom, Dad. I'm just trying to take it all in and make the most of every opportunity."
As the three continued to mingle, a woman dressed in a sleek black suit approached them. It was Jack's trusted secretary, Melissa, her demeanor professional yet approachable. She leaned in slightly, her voice low enough to maintain the intimacy of the moment.
"Mr. Zhang," she addressed Jack with a polite nod, "it's time for your speech. Everything is set."
Jack, nodded his head when he heard Melissa's were words, smiled and placed his half-full champagne glass on a tray carried by a passing server. "Of course," he said smoothly, turning to Taylor and Sandro. "You two stay here. I'll try not to bore everyone to tears."
As Jack began to follow Melissa, Sandro turned to his mother with a sly grin. "Dad giving a speech at a party? Really? This I've got to see."
Taylor, chuckled as she heard what, lightly knocked him on the side of his head with her hand. "Be quiet and watch. You might learn something, mister," she quipped, her playful tone making Sandro chuckle.
They turned their attention to the raised podium at the center of the grand ballroom. The lights dimmed slightly as a spotlight illuminated Jack, who now stood behind the podium. The room quieted, with only the faint hum of jazz in the background. Jack adjusted the microphone with the ease of someone accustomed to commanding attention.
"Good evening, everyone," Jack began, his deep voice carrying through the room. "First off, I want to thank all of you for taking the time to be here tonight. Seeing so many brilliant minds and accomplished individuals gathered in one place is a reminder of why events like this matter."
He paused, his gaze sweeping the room, his charismatic smile making even the farthest guest feel acknowledged. "Now, I understand some of you might still be en route. Traffic in Tampa can be...well, let's just say it's a character-building experience. So for those stuck on the way, we'll raise a glass for you and maybe save a canapé or two if we're feeling generous."
The audience erupted into laughter at Jack's comedic timing, the tension of formalities melting away. Taylor nudged Sandro gently. "See? He knows how to work a crowd."
Sandro nodded, impressed despite himself. "Alright, I'll give him that. He's good."
Jack's tone shifted slightly, becoming more earnest but no less engaging. "Tonight is not just a celebration of what we've achieved so far with Nexum Core. It's also a statement, a statement that we're just getting started. Nexum Core was founded based on innovation, growth, and the pursuit of big ideas. We've had the privilege of investing in businesses and concepts that have reshaped industries and how people connect with the world."
He gestured subtly toward some of the tech moguls in the audience. "From platforms that let us share our lives in real-time to entertainment empires that inspire generations, we've seen what happens when vision meets opportunity. And let me tell you, we're not stopping. If you've got an idea, a business, or even just a dream that needs a little fuel, Nexum Core is here to listen and to help make it happen."
The room filled with applause, a wave of enthusiasm coursing through the audience. Jack waited for the clapping to subside, his expression warm but determined. "So tonight, I encourage all of you to dream big, share your ideas, and most importantly, connect. Because the greatest innovations often come from the most unexpected conversations."
He raised his champagne glass that Melissa had discreetly handed back to him. "To success, to collaboration, and to the future. Thank you all for being here."
The applause was thunderous as Jack stepped away from the podium, returning to his wife and son. Sandro watched his father approach, a newfound respect evident in his expression.
"Not bad for a party speech, huh?" Jack teased, his smile mischievous as he rejoined them.
Sandro smirked. "Alright, I'll admit it. You killed it. But don't let it go to your head."
Taylor laughed softly, looping her arm through Jack's. "He's just jealous you didn't pass him the microphone."
Jack chuckled, placing a hand on Sandro's shoulder. "Don't worry, son. One day, it'll be your turn to stand up there."
The three of them continued mingling, the energy in the room now more vibrant after Jack's speech. Guests seemed more relaxed, diving into deeper conversations and networking with renewed enthusiasm.
As the Zhang family continued to mingle, the air shifted slightly with the arrival of the McMahon family. Vince McMahon himself led the group, his presence commanding attention as he approached Jack, Taylor, and Sandro.
Beside him were his wife Linda McMahon, radiating poise and elegance, his son Shane McMahon, energetic and lively, his daughter Stephanie McMahon, confident and sharp alongside her husband, Triple H, exuding his trademark blend of intensity and charisma.
One by one, the McMahons extended their hands in warm greetings. Vince's grip was firm and deliberate as he shook Jack's hand. "Jack, I have to commend you on such a remarkable evening. This is more than a party, it's an opportunity. The people I've spoken to tonight are some of the brightest minds I've encountered. Thank you for inviting us and creating a space for these conversations."
Jack's smile was genuine, his appreciation evident. "Thank you, Vince. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Now that WWE is part of Nexum Core's portfolio, this invitation was your right as much as it was my pleasure to extend it. With WWE's connections expanding through events like this, the return on Nexum Core's investment is bound to grow. It's truly a win-win situation."
Vince chuckled lightly, his gaze holding Jack's. "That's what I like to hear, mutual growth. It's been an exciting partnership so far, and I have no doubt it'll only get better."
As Jack and Vince continued to talk, their conversation weaving through topics of business strategies, growth plans, and the broader vision for WWE's future, Taylor found herself deep in conversation with Linda. The two women naturally gravitated toward one another, their discussion taking on a more personal yet intellectual tone.
"Taylor," Linda began, her voice warm but laced with curiosity, "what's your take on the current political climate in America? It feels like we're on the brink of significant changes, don't you think?"
Taylor nodded thoughtfully. "Absolutely, Linda. The landscape is more polarized than ever, which makes navigating it all the more complex. But with complexity comes opportunity, for dialogue, for change, and for innovation. How about you? I've heard you've been involved in some initiatives recently."
Linda's smile was proud but measured. "I have. Advocacy work, particularly around small businesses, has always been close to my heart. It's been challenging, but I believe in the cause. Of course, there are legal hurdles that sometimes make me question my approach."
Taylor's eyes lit up with interest. "Legal hurdles? That's my domain. Maybe I can offer some insights. Advocacy work, especially for small businesses, often intersects with areas I specialize in."
Linda's expression softened, and she leaned in slightly. "I'd love to pick your brain sometime. It's rare to meet someone with your expertise who's also so approachable."
While the two women built a connection rooted in mutual respect, Sandro found himself in a lively conversation with Stephanie, Triple H, and Shane. Having met Stephanie and Triple H before at the FCW headquarters, Sandro already felt a sense of familiarity. Stephanie's eyes sparkled with recognition as she spoke.
"Sandro, it's great to see you again. Dusty introduced us briefly last time, but I've been hearing a lot about you and keeping an eye on you since then. That War Games match you helped put together, it was incredible. Your creativity and in-ring talent shone through."
Triple H nodded in agreement, his expression one of approval. "She's right. That match wasn't just good, it was exceptional. You're making a name for yourself down in FCW, and trust me, that's not an easy thing to do. I can't wait to see what you bring to the main roster when the time comes."
Sandro felt a surge of pride but maintained his humility. "Thank you, both of you. Dusty's been a great mentor, and the opportunities I've had in FCW have been amazing. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can and make the most of every match."
Shane, who had been listening intently, chimed in with his characteristic enthusiasm. "Man, you're being way too humble. I've watched some of your matches, and they're fantastic. You've got this blend of athleticism and storytelling that draws people in. Even in your first year, you're wrestling like someone who's been in the business for a decade."
Sandro couldn't help but grin. "That means a lot coming from you, Shane. Honestly, I just love what I do. Every time I step into that ring, I want to give people something they'll remember."
Stephanie's voice softened slightly, her tone more personal. "And that's exactly what makes you stand out, Sandro. Wrestling isn't just about moves or technique, it's also about connecting with the audience, telling a story, and leaving them wanting more. You've got that instinct, and it's rare."
Triple H leaned in slightly, his gaze steady. "Just keep working hard. This business rewards those who are willing to put in the effort. And from what I've seen, you've got the passion and the talent to go far. When the time comes, you'll be ready for the spotlight."
Sandro nodded, his resolve strengthening with every word. "Thank you. That means a lot. I'll keep pushing myself and learning from the best."
The conversation shifted to lighter topics, with Shane recounting some of his most daring stunts in the ring, eliciting laughter from the group. Stephanie and Triple H shared anecdotes about life behind the scenes, offering Sandro a glimpse into the complexities of running a global wrestling empire. As the evening wore on, the McMahons eventually moved on to mingle with other guests.
After that, Sandro excused himself from his parents, citing the need for a quick bathroom break, and made his way through the bustling party. The grandeur of the ballroom began to fade as he entered the quieter hallway leading to the restrooms.
After using the facilities, he stepped up to the sleek marble sink, washing his hands under the cold rush of water. As he dried them off with a towel, he couldn't help but think about how surreal the night had been so far, conversations with the McMahon family, witnessing his father captivate an audience, and the endless opportunities brewing in the air.
As Sandro exited the bathroom, he was startled to find two men standing just outside the doorway. They appeared to be in their thirties, dressed sharply but without the polished sheen of the high-profile guests inside. One had slightly unkempt hair and a thoughtful expression, while the other exuded a quiet intensity. Sandro stopped in his tracks, instinctively offering a polite smile.
"Can I help you?" he asked, his tone curious but friendly.
The two men exchanged a glance before the one with the more composed demeanor spoke first. "Hi, sorry for stopping you here like this. My name's Brian Acton, and this is Jan Koum. We know this isn't exactly the most ideal spot to introduce ourselves, but we haven't been able to get a moment to speak with your father tonight."
Sandro tilted his head slightly, the names sparking a faint recognition in his mind. "No problem," he said, his smile unwavering. "What can I do for you?"
Jan stepped forward this time, his hands clasped nervously. "We've been trying to get in touch with investors, and when we heard about this event, we knew it would be a great chance. We didn't want to interrupt anything earlier, but we wanted to share an idea we've been working on. It's a messaging app for the iPhone."
