Chapter 60 - Is This the Main Story...?
Battle Race in the Fantasy World – 60
EP.60 Is This the Main Story…?
Unit 4 sprinted at an incredible speed towards the target point.
When they first infiltrated, Unit 7 and Unit 12 were by his side.
They were comrades who had endured harsh training and difficult infiltration together.
But Unit 7 was incinerated after being directly hit by a combat mage they encountered.
Unit 12 turned back to handle the pursuing knights.
‘I’m sorry, my brothers.’
With clenched teeth, Unit 4 ran. He didn’t look back.
Perhaps all of this was extremely reckless and meaningless.
It could even be the worst act, merely provoking the Empire’s wrath.
Attacking without a declaration of war, targeting even the unarmed.
‘But, but there’s no other way. This is the last path!’
Without such actions, the alliance would soon collapse on its own.
They needed a fierce flame, something to burn brightly.
Whether it was their own lives or the Empire’s fury, it didn’t matter.
Better to become demons and be cursed, fighting until the end, than to crumble at a mere gesture.
‘I wonder what happened to the other teams.’
Only a dozen or so members were deployed into this vast academy.
Of his team, only one out of three was heading towards the target point.
If the other teams were in similar situations, fewer than five would make it into the academy.
They would inflict less than half the damage they had planned.
If things went worse, their efforts might only result in a brief spark before being extinguished.
Nevertheless, they were willing to become those moths to the flame.
“If you touch us, even if we ultimately lose, you will bleed heavily. We must make this clear to the imperial bastards.”
Unit 4 threw himself forward, reaching right in front of the academy’s main gate.
Knights had lunged at him along the way, but he had easily shaken them off.
Even when they used mana, it didn’t cause significant damage to him.
He could only operate for 10 minutes, but the effect was undeniable.
Despite the knights being quite skilled, he had taken them all down in an instant.
It was a level that even renowned knights from his homeland couldn’t easily achieve.
‘Yes. If I’m paying with my life, it should at least be this effective.’
Once he crossed that gate, he would be inside the academy. Inside, the despicable imperial nobles awaited.
Although their only crime was being the sons and daughters of those nobles,
many children and young ladies from his kingdom had also died because of that.
It was a tragic situation for both sides, but it was also inevitable.
This was war. Innocent people died, and those unrelated to the conflict lost their lives!
“Stop him! Stop him!!”
Once again, knights blocked Unit 4’s path, but it was futile.
His body was already burning hot from the mana berserk drug.
He believed there was no one in the academy capable of stopping him now.
– Thud! –
Just as Unit 4 leaped with all his might and crossed the gate,
– Thud! –
“Gah?!”
He felt something hot and blunt at his throat and then collapsed to the ground.
Wondering what had happened, he tried to get up quickly.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move a single finger.
All sensation in his limbs was gone; blinking was the only movement he could manage.
He tried to assess the situation, but he couldn’t even move his head.
His mind was clear, but his body felt like that of a newborn baby.
“Wha, what the hell….”
The last thing Unit 4 saw was a kick aimed squarely at his face.
– Thud! –

The intruders were certainly on a higher level than the imperial knights.
In terms of strength and speed, they were overwhelmingly superior in every aspect.
But looking at their physical condition, they couldn’t be considered true experts.
‘How is this possible? How can they exhibit such strength with bodies like these!’
As Kyle subdued another intruder, he shook his head.
Their bodies could at best match the level of imperial knights.
Anything beyond that would cause their muscles and tendons to tear.
Yet, these intruders were displaying that level of strength.
Although the first intruder he caught didn’t answer, Kyle was almost certain they had done something to their bodies.
‘Otherwise, these rookies couldn’t possibly exhibit such power.’
Thinking this, Kyle examined another intruder he had grabbed.
“Grrr!”
Just like the first intruder he encountered.
Abnormally strong and fast, but their physical condition was the worst.
They exuded a menacing aura, but it was lacking. Severely lacking.
They should be able to harness and control their energy, like his parents or his older siblings. Or at least like Yurika or Priscilla, who were among the Empire’s top ten.
But they couldn’t do that at all, and their bodies were being consumed by their own power.
“Don’t… expect… anything!”
Suddenly, the man started muttering nonsense.
Kyle blinked and decided to listen to the man’s ramblings a bit more.
“Whatever you try to ask me! You won’t get anything out of me!”
“…Ah.”
Kyle finally understood what the man was implying.
The man thought Kyle would ask him questions like ‘Who are you?’ or ‘Who sent you?’ or ‘What is your purpose?’
It wasn’t strange for the intruder to think that. Those were reasonable questions.
If the knights had captured this man, they would have bombarded him with such questions.
But the one holding him was not a knight, but Kyle Jonathan.
“I don’t care where you came from or what your purpose is.”
Would he even answer if asked? Only an idiot would ask such questions.
And anyway, if you have a brain, you can figure it out with a bit of thought.
Where these guys came from and what their purpose is, it’s all clear.
“You must have taken something really strong. Or maybe ingested it.”
“Grr…?”
“But you should’ve done something your body could handle. What’s the point if your body breaks down?”
“Heh heh! Don’t worry! Anyway…”
“What. You’re saying you’ll go boom! and explode soon, so there’s nothing to worry about?”
At Kyle’s words, the man’s face turned pale.
He assumed Kyle would know they used some abnormal method.
But to know their hidden ace, their sharp dagger as well?
‘It’s obvious. How many times have I seen this in novels?’
To Kyle, it was all too obvious.
For people in such a condition, the ultimate methods they choose are either suicide or self-destruction.
Whether in this novel or that novel, the endings are always the same, so predicting it was easy.
Even without knowing the main plot, anyone who has read a few novels would know this.
It’s not like they’re terrorists holding a bomb and pressing a detonator.
You can tell just by looking. This person’s body itself had become a bomb.
Kyle didn’t know what method they used, but the turbulent mana was the source.
He thought that the reaction would cause everything to collapse and explode.
So, should he just watch with open eyes as these people turned their bodies into fireworks?
Kyle thought again. Just like in movies where cutting the right wire stops a bomb,
maybe there was a way to stop this living bomb from exploding by cutting the right thing.
“It’s going to sting a little.”
“What… hic?!”
– Crack-. –
He lightly grabbed the neck and severed all the mana circuits inside.
It wasn’t difficult. Besides the flow of blood through the veins and the pulse of the pathways.
He could clearly feel another flow of power beyond that, transmitted through his hand.
The people of Jonathan were more adept than anyone at reading and controlling such energy and power.
Although Kyle considered himself half-baked, he was still a person of Jonathan.
Doing something like this was ten times easier than exercising.
“Gah, gah…”
Oh, maybe he pressed too hard. It seemed he might have severed the nerves as well.
Looking at the man who could barely move his head, Kyle clicked his tongue.
His sister was really good at this. Sometimes, when he got caught, he had to act cute to be let off.
Thinking this, Kyle began to self-criticize, feeling he still lacked training.
‘That’s six.’
In that short time, Kyle had subdued nearly half of the intruders.
He had even managed to incapacitate them cleanly without killing them.
As for the rest…
“Kyle. I caught four. How about that? Doesn’t that make me a strong woman worthy of you?”
Dragging two battered men and women, Yurika spoke confidently from behind.
She still hadn’t given up on the idea of marriage and visited him almost daily.
She was already a headache for Kyle, who was stressed from the group project.
But now, thanks to her, he had one less task to worry about, which was amusing.
“Four, you say, Princess Yurika.”
“Yes. Isn’t it impressive?”
“I caught six.”
“…What?”
“I caught six. That’s two more than you, Princess.”
For a moment, Yurika’s face showed a mix of frustration and competitiveness.
She immediately threw down the suspects and quickly disappeared somewhere.
She was likely planning to capture the remaining intruders to outdo him.
“…”
Kyle, who stood there for a moment, handed the intruders over to the knights before taking off.
If she managed to catch six and tie with him, or worse, surpass him,
she would undoubtedly use that as an excuse to pressure him into marriage again!
He couldn’t let that happen. He had to stop her. So he increased his speed.
– Boom!! –
A sudden explosion echoed from up ahead.
It came from near the café where Tisha, Ian, Elga, and Leto were.
