Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Homelander vs. the Sorcerer Supreme
Facing the incoming magical rings, Homelander remained calm, his expression unchanged. It was his first time encountering a magical attack, but whether in Marvel or DC, magic was ultimately just another form of energy.
If it was energy, it couldn't possibly penetrate his biological forcefield.
Standing still, he allowed the Raggadorr's Rings to strike his body. As expected, the spinning rings were deflected and returned to the Sorcerer Supreme, who caught them effortlessly.
The Ancient One didn't seem surprised. She smiled faintly and unleashed a barrage of Raggadorr's Rings with swift movements of her hands.
In an instant, the mirror-dimension "street," composed of countless twisted buildings, was illuminated by streaks of yellow energy as the rings swirled unpredictably, attacking Homelander from all directions.
Floating upward, Homelander let the rings bounce harmlessly off his forcefield. Then, with a burst of speed that left afterimages, he shot toward the Sorcerer Supreme. Though not quite at escape velocity, his movement was fast enough to appear instantaneous.
The Ancient One had anticipated this. Before Homelander could reach her, she expanded a protective Raggadorr's Ring.
Boom!
The collision shattered the ring, sending the Ancient One hurtling backward. Yet she recovered midair, conjuring a glowing golden whip from magical energy and lashing it around Homelander's arm.
Using the whip to pull herself forward, she closed the distance and raised her palm, aiming to strike him.
Homelander knew what that strike entailed. If it landed, his spiritual form would be forcibly separated from his physical body.
Even the Hulk, as formidable as he was, had been rendered helpless by this move in Avengers: Endgame.
Unsure whether his forcefield could withstand such an attack, Homelander chose not to gamble. His eyes flared with crimson light, unleashing Heat Vision that seared through the magical whip and severed it.
As the whip dissipated, Homelander's figure blurred, leaving behind a gust of wind that made the Ancient One's strike miss.
When she turned to face him again, she saw not one but two Homelanders.
"Self-Replication!"
Homelander had created a clone with 80% of his power.
Smiling smugly, he and his duplicate moved in unison, weaving through the air and switching places at breakneck speed. Their movements were so fast and erratic that even the Ancient One found it hard to discern the real Homelander.
But as the Sorcerer Supreme, she wasn't reliant on mere vision. Unlike the version in the movies, her skillset wasn't limited to close combat.
With a fluid motion, she extended her hands and summoned a gale.
Boom!
The terrifying Watoomb's Winds howled, forcing Homelander and his clone backward.
The two clones stabilized midair, glaring at the Ancient One. Without hesitation, they unleashed twin Heat Vision beams, their golden rays blazing downward toward the Sorcerer Supreme.
The Ancient One, unperturbed, pressed her hands together. A massive golden magic circle appeared in front of her, absorbing the incoming energy. Instead of exploding or penetrating, the beams transformed into delicate, shimmering butterflies that fluttered harmlessly away.
This display of elegance and power was the hallmark of the spell The Ancient Body of Hoggos!
The Ancient One's silhouette flickered. Then, like a deity with a thousand hands, she manifested countless arms before splitting into innumerable identical copies. The duplicates surrounded Homelander and his clone, an overwhelming sight.
Marveling at the display, Homelander couldn't help but feel envious.
"This puts my Self-Replication to shame," he muttered. "If only I could create that many clones…"
His musings were cut short as the Ancient One's doppelgängers unleashed The Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. These glowing red chains, imbued with energy from the Crimson Cosmos, shot out in all directions, encircling both Homelander and his clone.
Despite their best efforts to dodge, the sheer number of chains proved too much. Within moments, both Homelander and his duplicate were tightly bound.
More chains followed, wrapping around them layer by layer.
The Ancient One's duplicates then conjured large, intricate magic circles. Thunder roared as radiant golden lightning descended along the chains, striking Homelander and his clone.
"Bolt of Balthakk!"
The electricity surged through the chains, engulfing the two in waves of blinding light and deafening sound.
But from within the storm of lightning, two beams of Heat Vision erupted.
The crimson rays snaked through the air, weaving between the Ancient One's duplicates and shattering them one by one.
Though each doppelgänger possessed the same power as the original, their physical durability was limited. Even the real Ancient One had been fatally wounded by mundane means in the movies.
Homelander focused on eliminating the duplicates rather than the chains binding him, reasoning that fewer opponents meant less magical pressure.
Using his Absolute Precision ability, he marked each duplicate in his line of sight. No matter how many there were, his heat vision found and obliterated them with ruthless efficiency.
Finally, the last of the duplicates fell.
The beams converged on one remaining figure, triggering a massive explosion.
Boom!
The mirror dimension was engulfed in an intense, radiant blaze, as if a miniature sun had erupted. The fiery shockwave tore through the space, leaving the once-stable dimension riddled with cracks.
Even the Ancient One's carefully crafted realm couldn't withstand such a catastrophic attack. Fissures formed in its fabric, allowing tendrils of superheated energy to seep into the real world.
In reality, buildings trembled, cars exploded, and terrified citizens screamed as they fled into nearby shelters. Peeking out from their hiding spots, they saw faint, glowing rifts in the air, as if the world itself was breaking apart.
Back in the mirror dimension, the Ancient One lowered her Raggadorr's Ring. Her expression was grim as she surveyed the devastation—a battlefield scorched by an explosion beyond mortal comprehension.
Looking up at the distorted light where Homelander and his clone hovered, she seemed to make a decision.
With a solemn gesture, she activated the relic hanging from her neck.
The Eye of Agamotto began to glow, its emerald light signaling the activation of the Time Stone.
