Chapter 51- Third test
Alatia has been trying to improve herself every single day, with two motives. The second reason was to make a name for herself, independent of her title as the Princess.
The primary reason for her self-improvement was to maintain that respect in Kyle's eyes which she could see ever since she saved him from those two worms.
The greenish hue tells her how Kyle admires her and the blend of pink shade also declares his romantic feelings for her.
Alatia wanted him to keep those emotions exclusive to her and her alone. She couldn't compromise it for anything or anyone. She wants his love all for herself and his respect should be directed at her alone.
She is his lover and this much was acceptable. There is no debate about it. She deserves his undivided love and attention, and Alatia was well adamant about keeping things like that.
Then....why does it seem his admiration just now was directed toward a girl who isn't Alatia?
She couldn't be wrong, right? Her eyes were working fine, right?
Kyle...indeed like that girl it seems. That silver head had an air of superiority and the way she finished her match under one minute, she must be strong as well.
...so what was it? Her looks or strength? What did Kyle like in her? Alatia could do better than her. She could be better than her.
No, no, no, don't look at her like that Kyle. Don't. Just STOP!
"Are you okay?"
"Hnn?" Her stupor was broken as suddenly someone called from her left.
Alatia now realized that not only the two who came with her, but everyone in the gymnasium was looking at her—and her surroundings which had turned completely white.
Frost clung to the President and her secretary, and half of the arena was already coated with ice. The air had turned so chilly that every exhaled breath produced visible steam.
Kyle was about to advance toward the stands but it seemed the instructor stopped him and she herself proceeded toward Alatia.
"Student Council President, can I know the reason for this sudden outburst?" The female instructor asked the person who was responsible for bringing Alatia to the place which was forbidden by students to enter while the examination was going on.
Isabella flashed a confident smile and spoke, "I brought the freshman representative to learn from the variety of trained combatants and also give her a rundown of the duties that she might be performing as a Disciplinarian."
The instructor narrowed her eyes, "But I don't find any reason for the representative to obstruct the match."
"I apologize for the disturbance. Please continue." Alatia gave a bow and also, turned all the ice into particles—startling the instructor.
The instructor lost the motive to continue, seeing the Princess bowing as she warned her before leaving, "Please don't play any pranks anymore."
Alatia didn't say anything and lifted her head.
Her eyes turned toward Kyle, who was also looking back at her with a troubled expression.
'...so you know that you have done something wrong...' As her friend, lover, and mistress, Alatia had various things that she would like to discuss with him in private.
But for now, Alatia decided to remain silent and witness his performance.
********
[Kyle's POV:]
Uhhhh....okay. Alatia is mad and I am one hundred percent sure why she is so upset.
It's just I never thought she would come to watch the match that's why I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.
'....but this is a serious problem....' I was just admiring Elera and Alatia lost control over her emotions. However, it's not like I won't admire Elera or anyone else in the future. It's quite natural...and if Alatia continued to have such a temperament...
'I need to talk to her and sort things out.' I knew our relationship wouldn't be all sunshine and rainbows. We need to talk things out to prevent misunderstandings from further growing.
'...I hope she doesn't turn out to be like that specific pink-haired girl...' Remembering a certain anime character I shivered all over.
The assessment continued with another pair of servants now standing inside the arena.
I wondered if Alatia would leave now since the person who brought her here must have been warned by the Instructor.
However, seeing those starry eyes of the heroine named Isabella, I knew she wouldn't leave any time soon.
The Student Council President is one of the strongest being currently in the Academy and also, someone who would play an important role in the upcoming arc.
The Second Arc—Being favored.
It's a very basic arc without much life-threatening trouble for the protagonist. And since Alatia wouldn't have to be involved in this arc, I was pretty much laid back.
The teacher who has been smitten by Clara would not like her being attentive towards a certain student and as such, he would start to create trouble for him.
In one of those classes, Logan would be lured into a battle against that said antagonist, and naturally, as an overly powered hero, Logan would come out as the victor. However, since the teacher's reputation would be on the line he would blame Logan for harassing the teacher without any reason and all.
That's when Isabella would enter the scene and make a very good impression on Logan.
'Well, I hope I don't need to get involved in this...as far as I could remain from Logan, it would be better.'
Soon all the remaining five battles concluded and my turn came out.
"Number 7, come forth." I along with another guy walked towards the arena.
I picked a wooden bo staff that was resting on the weapon rack before nearing the center.
I was the first person to use a weapon that's why everyone seemed to murmuring about me. Even my opponent smirked at me and said,
"I heard you are non-awakened. Well, I am the worst match for you."
Just as he said, I indeed wasn't well suited to face him. If my mind is serving me right then this guy with dirty blond hair and pink irises has a barrier skill. And as a close combat expert such as me, this guy was a nightmare.
....or what he must be thinking.
"Contestants ready?" The proctor asked as we both stood with two meters between us.
As we nodded, he announced,
"BEGIN!"
His hand slashed downward, signaling the start of the battle. I immediately leaped back, startling my opponent. His eyes widened, and he instinctively chanted his barrier spell, a shimmering force field snapping into place in front of him.
In that split second, I hurled my bo staff into the air. The crowd's murmuring faded as my focus sharpened. My opponent, eyes darting between me and the rising staff, tightened his stance.
Seizing the moment, I launched myself into the air. My heart pounded in my chest, the thrill of combat electrifying my veins. I caught the bo staff mid-flight, twisting in the air to harness my momentum.
"HAH!"
With a fierce shout, I hurled the staff straight at the spot that I deemed the weakest through Beta.
He must be too nervous to move away or pretty confident in his skill.
**BOOOOOOOM**
The staff connected with the barrier and a loud explosion occurred.
Upon realizing that the barrier had broken, I seized the opportunity and after landing, darted in his direction.
"Ah!" The boy wasn't too fast and I never got the chance to use Beta again. With my left hand holding his neck, I used my free hand to squeeze the pouch.
*Ptuu*
"I-I give up!!" He shouted with his face turning red just as my clothes which was coated in the contents of the pouch.
I let go of the guy, resulting in his fall.
"Contestant Kyle wins!" The proctor announced before I glanced in Alatia's direction.
She was barely concealing a smile as she watched me with her hands folded on her chest.
So the tsundere mode is on, huh?
Since I had most probably scored perfect in each assessment, now I was waiting for the reward she had promised.
And in the excitement, I completely missed noticing a certain guy, who was also looking at
the match with keen interest until now.
