Chapter 45- Confession
"Can't believe almost a year has passed since you came here, my lady." Maria felt a little emotional during the dinner.
Tomorrow, Alatia will be departing for the Academy along with Kyle for the entrance ceremony, and just like every other student she also has to stay in the student's dorms.
"It's not like I won't come back," Alatia assured the maid, who was more than just a servant to her. In the mansion, except for Kyle, Alatia could only show her true self to some extent to Maria and they often chat like friends as well—which explains the older one's current outburst.
"That's right, Maria. My lady would return to Belur once a week or maybe two." Kyle assured the older one with a warm smile on his face.
The reason why Alatia's father arranged a mansion near the Academy was because, once in a while when Alatia might want to take a break from the Academy, she wouldn't need to travel all the way to the Capital all the time.
And thanks to Kyle's teleportation ability they can return to Belur in an instant.
"I understand. Sorry for being a nuisance."
Alatia shook her head at that, which signified that she didn't mind.
The dinner went peacefully after that. Only Alatia was seated on the table and given how light she prefers to eat at night, it didn't take long before she was done.
"Shall I prepare the bath, my lady?" Maria asked the Princess.
However, before Alatia could have consented, Kyle interjected, "Umm...please delay the bath for some time, Maria. I need to talk to my lady for a moment."
Alatia raised her brows at that as she turned to look at him.
For some reason, Kyle was stealing his gaze away from her—bringing a suggestive smile to her face.
Maria gazed alternatively between the two before she smiled ear to ear and responded, "Of course. Take your time."

The night was quite young, and the serene breeze of spring gently swayed across the training ground where the two teenagers slowly walked.
The full moon hung in the sky like an ornament and the twinkling stars enhanced the beauty of the night.
Alatia and Kyle walked side by side, and despite it being some minutes they got alone, not a single word traveled between them.
Alatia knew what this could be about and truth be told, she was feeling several butterflies going chaotic in her belly. However, despite her excitement and impatience, she didn't urge him to speak and silently strolled around with him.
On the other hand, Kyle looked pretty nervous about what he had to say. He didn't have much of an experience when it came to things like this...however, he had already made her wait for too long.
Nine months have passed since Alatia confessed her feelings to him. And on this day, after nine months, Kyle summed up the courage to reply to her confession.
"Ala...I think you already know why I have called you here."
Alatia remained silent and unresponsive.
Kyle took her response to be a 'yes' as he continued, "You know me better than anyone. My past and origin are not hidden from you. You are aware of what I was and what I have become. Despite that, you never stopped caring about me. I am very thankful for that."
Kyle hastened his steps and little and turned to face her—halting her movement.
Alatia was slightly startled as she saw a bouquet of white lilies appearing in his hand out of nowhere.
Coming down from her surprise she looked into Kyle's eyes and found only determination filled up in them.
Kyle gathered the courage of all his lifetime before he planted his left knee off the ground and got into a proposing pose.
Alatia's heart skipped a beat seeing him like this, but she still chose to remain silent. She didn't know what she might say that might end up ruining the mood. And now, she doesn't want Kyle to stop at all.
Kyle held her hand with his free one, and while looking into her eyes, he relayed those words that arrived directly from his heart,
"I know I am not the perfect man to hold your hand Alatia...but since I love you so much, I won't let anyone else other than me, hold your hand either." Alatia giggled hearing his words, before she felt something sliding in her finger.
Looking down, her eyes sparkled upon finding a silvery ring resting on her finger. There was no gem on it nor any particular design to make it look eye-catching yet the fact that it was given by Kyle made it more valuable than any other ornament in the world.
"I will get you a better one, once we enter the academy."
"No...it's quite fine. Rather, I don't want any replacement of it." Hugging her hand to her chest she shook her head and shooed off any suggestion of taking off that ring.
Kyle felt his heart warming up at how valuable she deemed the ring.
With a smile, he got up and slowly hugged her waist.
Drawing the girl closer, Kyle whispered in a sweet tone, "I never thought that we would end up like this one day."
Alatia's cheeks adapted a pinkish glow, as she asked in the same manner, "Do you not like how things are?"
"No, I don't. It would have been more perfect if you had these flowers holding while wearing a white gown and we take some oaths in the presence of many people."
Alatia tilted her head to the left teasingly and asked him, "Are you asking me to marry you?"
Kyle went silent for a moment...not expecting that she would get on it so suddenly. In a slight panic, his words began to jerk, "I-I...don't...I mean it's not I want to h-hurry things and...."
"Pfft-just stop talking now Kyle and kiss me."
Looking at that beautiful smile returning on her face, Kyle's heart melted.
Complying to his mistress' demand Kyle leaned forward and stole Alatia's lips for the second time.
He has long decided to change the plot for his own good. And now, holding this girl in his arms, Kyle couldn't have been any more sure that this world couldn't follow the same route that it originally was supposed to.
