Chapter 42: Revenge of the Dragon Part III
"Come out, Brego!"
What Joke did was summon out the fourth half—a black dragon that came soaring out of the golden magic circle. Its figure that was about two meters tall shot straight forward at high speed. It was a yellow-eyed scaleless long-tailed dragon that stood on both legs with a saddle attached to its back.
“Run to Eureasa, hurry!”
Joke immediately pointed his finger at his half partner. The black dragon dashed towards the blond-haired maiden without any delay—the exact moment when the slime tried to flick its disgusting tongue, trying to swallow her alive once again. But, of course, Eureasa had a chance to gain a foothold this time. She leaped backward as the black dragon rushed toward her. The maiden half wasted no time, mounting herself onto the dragon’s back swiftly as a dragon rider!
Boom!!!!
When the violent attack went off target, King Slime waited no further, repeating its attacks rhythmically. It leaped high upward, aiming to squish on its lower-level enemies all in one landing. Eureasa managed to tug on the dragon’s bridle, darting their escape just in time.
Eureasa deliberately rushed toward her master. The King Slime, who had not given up yet, turned around to aim at its target once more before leaping upward again—which was at the exact moment that the maiden half reached down her hands for her master. Joke reached up, holding firmly to her hands before Eureasa forcefully pulled him onto the dragon’s back just in time.
Boom!!!!
That occurred almost at the same time when King Slime slammed itself down. Joke narrowly escaped his death and was now on the earth dragon’s back with Eureasa keeping it running firmly forward. As for the two little dragons, they hurriedly flew to cling onto their master's shoulder. The dragon gang was now making a break for it!
“That was close. It was hella fast even with that chubby body.”
Joke whistled and raised his left hand to hold onto the waist of the lady in front of him to support himself from falling from the dragon’s back. As a matter of fact, he had never had any experience riding on something this unsteady. He had never ridden an animal, even horses that were much simpler to find. It seemed that he had now skipped many steps as there was not much time for him to dwell upon it.
"Keep running away, Eureasa. Don't let it catch up with us!"
After shouting aloud, Joke flicked his eyes behind him and saw that there were no signs suggesting that King Slime would be giving up any time soon. It leaped high up again before dropping onto the ground impactfully, narrowly hitting them, and began to bounce-chase straight behind, breathing down on their necks!
“Great! It’s going according to plan.”
Joke mused with a wide smile. He opened the map window.
Before coming here, he had, of course, explored the area nearby. The first step in his plan was to get King Slime out of this open space as quickly as possible to prevent other people from seeing it. The next step then was to lure it out to his chosen location where he was sure that no other summoners would be making an appearance there.
"Run forward into the Silkie forest!"
Joke pointed at a forest located approximately a kilometer away as his eyes flicked backward to make sure that King Slime was still following them. At that instant, those pair of iron-colored orbs opened wide.
"Wind Shield!"
He immediately conjured up a Skill Card, sending the blue dragon that was clinging on his shoulder to fly a little upward before flapping his little wings and sending out a gust of wind at the exact moment when sticky mucus was shot toward them. When the mucus clashed with a wall of wind, it spread apart, narrowly missing them.
"I just took a shower. Are you going to splash the stinky goo on me again?”
Joke spoke, irritated, as he narrowed his eyes at the mischievous monster that was still continuing to bounce and chase after him without giving up. It tried to splash the sticky slime onto them to ruin their pacing once again.
"Keep firing at it. Don't let it attack us, Blue, Red."
The two dragons that were on the Joke's shoulders immediately started spitting flames. Even though their flames were not intense enough to cause any damage, it was enough to disrupt the slime from shooting out its sticky mucus. Joke had already expected from the start that this creature was going to be tricky with its attack, so he had summoned these two little dragons out to act as mini-turrets on his shoulders.
"Good, keep on running, everyone."
Joke shouted to motivate all of his halves to concentrate on this daredevil mission. Needless to say, with the wide gap between their levels, this level-forty boss would definitely manage to send them back to regenerate in the town once again if they made even the slightest mistakes.
It was not long before everything went as planned. They managed to successfully run into the Silkie forest even when King Slime was still viciously on their tail as if it was becoming more furious every time its attack missed this novice summoner.
Within the Silky forest, darkness streaked in to obscure the scenery in a flash, making it almost unable to make out anything. But, the eyes of the dragon could see in the dark as well as a dragon rider like Eureasa’s. So, that was not a problem at all. She was still able to skillfully control and steer this earth dragon through the forest.
The sound of destruction continued to chase after them close by. Even though many trees were blocking the way, it was not an obstacle to the giant slime at all. The sound that was chasing after them was a clear sign that the enemy had not surrendered though it had run far away from its abode.
"Can you please slow down a little, Eureasa? Or else it will give up and stop chasing us. I want to lure it a little deeper. We will be seen by other people here.”
The maiden half turned around, nodded, and tugged on the bridle to slow the earth dragon down a bit. She also flicked her gaze back to check if the enemy was still closely behind them. But, the sound of trees falling down from behind suddenly went silent. Those lavender-colored orbs narrowed down, trying to see what exactly was going on.
And at that moment, Eureasa’s jaw dropped open.
"Hey?!"
Joke even cried out loudly because Eureasa suddenly turned around, grabbing him before leaping down from the dragon's back. Both of their bodies crashed onto the ground, hard, before rolling around on the ground inelegantly. The tinkling pain on Joke’s body was almost the same as the pain felt in the real world though it was much less painful.
"What are you doing, Eureasa?"
The young man shouted, trying to push himself off the ground and using his hands to support his shoulders that were pressing against the ground. But, it was twice that the maiden half took her liberty by pressing his hand back down hard on the ground before also crouching down together with him.
Slash!
It was as if a sharp breeze swept across only an inch above them. Once he gained his awareness, a mysterious object transformed itself into a sword and slashed every tree in its path into shreds. Even the Earth Dragon Brego that ran in front of him was cut into two by this blade!
"T...The hell is this?"
