A Village Appeared on My Desktop

Chapter 60

Chapter 60 – Collision (10)

“So, the tribe chief Oren here eventually received support from Garhan and launched attacks on the smaller tribes, forming this large tribe.”

“That’s correct. By the way, what was that just now? Didn’t the sky just take someone away?!”

“It’s nothing serious; there’s no need to make a fuss.”

He sent Riena and a few others back to the village first, and just as the returned members started resting for tomorrow, Barun, who remained on site, couldn’t afford to rest. Having finished the minimum tidying up, he was busy interrogating the three warriors of Oren who had surrendered without resisting or fleeing.

The warriors themselves were still stunned, having just seen people rise into the sky and disappear.

‘Garhan is a typical conqueror of the grasslands.’

Barun evaluated Garhan’s method of gaining power by uniting tribes through force to be quite traditional. Following the strong was their fundamental rule.

Those who resist were crushed and absorbed. Those who didn’t resist were forced to yield under strong power and made loyal subjects, given minimal authority in exchange for taxes.

Oren’s tribe, which Barun occupied today, was formed in such a way, regardless of what the chief Oren was thinking. In fact, many members of the current tribe were from recently absorbed smaller tribes.

Thus, their justification was weak. With just a little spark, they could easily shift their allegiance.

‘Our inner sense of mission is too weak due to prolonged survival competitions. However, once they start receiving the grace of that being one by one, they won’t think so carelessly.’

Seeing this, Barun faintly smiled. The ones he led would be different. They would possess a strong will in their hearts, beyond just struggling to survive.

“Surely what happened today will reach Garhan’s ears, right?”

“Y-Yes, but I doubt it. The former tribe chief wanted to monopolize all the spoils. But since he was attacked while preparing for war, he probably couldn’t even send any news.”

In response to Barun’s question, one of the warriors insisted that Garhan wouldn’t have heard the news. Indeed, the former tribe chief Oren had not made contact.

“However, with others escaping along the way, there must surely be some news…”

“Speaking of which, that Torro guy is also missing.”

However, hoping that such a significant event would not spread around was foolish. Many had already escaped and fled; it was obvious where they would take the news.

“It doesn’t matter. We don’t avoid Garhan or anyone else. We are those who carry an unavoidable, holy mission.”

“I can’t understand. What is that supposed to mean? A mission?”

“You also can be warriors chosen by that being, can’t you?”

The surprised warriors asked Barun why he didn’t care that the great chief Garhan would be enraged. Sensing their disbelief, Barun smirked before beginning his serious narration.

Naturally, the story was about the guardian deity who cared for them. It was an unbelievable, nonsensical tale, but the undeniable proof was in Barun himself and the troops he led, so the warriors had no choice but to believe.

“I’m a bit worried I’ve let out too much information before we even return to the village.”

“That was intentional. They will spread what they’ve just heard, and then all the residents who are just joining us will know our intentions.”

After the story concluded, the lively village, illuminated by torches late into the night, quieted down. Rakum approached Barun, who despite his enhanced stamina from awakening mana, wore a tired expression.

Barun shook his head at Rakum’s concern.

“We are different from Garhan and other tribes. Our purpose and what we possess are different. If we convey that, those who still fear us might have different thoughts.”

Abundant resources, continuous growth opportunities, and so forth. However, those generous supports came with the price of obligations.

Telling those who had lived without fixed principles that they should fight with a sense of duty and mission could feel like a rather strange notion.

Barun intended to use that as a weapon.

“Tell the residents to hurry up and finish their relocation preparations by tomorrow morning. Perhaps that being will lend us assistance, so prioritize packing their things.”

“Understood.”

After giving instructions to Rakum, Barun was finally able to rest.

Around the same time, someone watching their efforts while sipping strong coffee also retired for the night.

‘So, they finished the relocation preparations in just one day?’

Waking up leisurely in the morning, I headed to the computer as if it were the most natural thing in the world and saw that nearly all the residents were almost done preparing.

True to their characteristics, they didn’t have much baggage at all. They moved quickly in response to Barun’s orders, yet quite a number of neutral people turned into allies last night for reasons unknown.

“This is going to take a while.”

I sighed softly, grabbing the mouse to drag the prepared tribe members as much as possible. Simultaneously, I clicked to select them, lifting them up and starting to transfer them to the village while shifting screens.

It was quite a repetitive task to move hundreds of people. I could have let them come on their own, but this was the least I could do for them.

The real issue, however, lies elsewhere.

‘How will I check on each of them one by one?’

I was slowly transitioning from managing the residents individually to overseeing them collectively.

Checking their conditions and categorizing them based on their talents for distributing them to the necessary spaces was crucial for our development and growth, yet it was impossible for a mere human like me to accomplish alone.

So, I needed some mechanical assistance. My mouse zipped across the rapidly changing desktop while my eyes were glued to a single icon on the screen.

A famous company’s spreadsheet program, widely used by many people. If I could integrate that with the Master Program, it would surely grant special functions like the other programs.

[Spreadsheet Program Excellent: 1500P]

It’s not a cheap price for a program that isn’t a game. However, given my surplus points at the moment, it was worth the investment.

‘After all, I’ll be using it continuously.’

After a brief contemplation, I ultimately activated the program. It wasn’t a recommendation from the Master Program; it was my own judgment that deemed it useful.

[Inputting captured residents’ information]

Fortunately, my assumption was spot on. The program activated by the Master Program provided me with exactly the functions I needed.

After moving all the residents I planned to relocate near the village, I could input all their information into the program in one go, simply by capturing it and opening the file.

‘If I awaken all of them, I’ll have over 30 warriors.’

While the newly relocated residents were puzzled and unpacking their belongings in the village, I began categorizing their information easily by retrieving the organized data.

Those who could awaken as warriors, those with production traits like miners or farmers, and so forth.

The program’s functions weren’t limited to that; it could also create graphs of the growth status of the categorized individuals or display their current conditions with icons, tracking where they are.

Of course, there were too many people at the moment, so even though I categorized them, I couldn’t immediately awaken them due to a lack of necessary materials.

Therefore, it was up to the seniors to gather those materials.

‘Barun needs to rest, and he’s quite busy, so it can’t be helped.’

I brought only Rasen and Shura here. Riena needed to be taken to Dark Blood, so I didn’t bring her here, and Rakum was too fatigued to be disturbed. The other warriors were sent into hunting mode at Dark Blood for job advancement.

On the other hand, both Rasen and Shura were young and had arrived in the village first to rest, so when I checked their status, they were in good condition.

“—?”

“–…”

Despite both being recognized warriors, it seemed they were still a bit nervous about being called by me to this place, with the boy awkwardly bowing and the girl scolding him. To my eyes, they still seemed young, and initially, I planned to have them accompany me.

‘No matter how I see it, the monsters in this game aren’t really that strong. With these two fully learned skills, the Underground World should be enough.’

I brandished a titanium blade in my geometric hand, gesturing for them to follow me. This was something I created using the file converter on additional residents’ resources after making the pickaxe.

Leading the way, I directed them toward an entrance that I had dug out frantically.

With only scattered torches lighting the way, the entrance looked like something straight out of a dungeon. Both were startled, but they followed me down the angular stone block steps toward the underground.

‘After all, they aren’t miners, so they can’t break the blocks. I’ll only take them down to the second floor and block off the third.’

The underground world, random in nature, was essentially modeled after dungeons.

Layers exist with increasing strength below. It might even be similar to the Bug Nest. Since it was just Rasen and Shura today, I only planned to guide them to the second floor where the weakest enemies appeared.

“—!”

As I smashed through the stone blocks I had previously blocked, a monster inside noticed us and approached.

It was called a Skull Golem. Viewed this way, it was a cute monster made from tiny bones, appearing quite silly, but as startled Shura and Rasen drew their weapons to fight, it transformed into a monster made of bones with gleaming blue eyes.

‘I’d better take the hits myself.’

I moved my character forward and swung the sword. Compared to the real monster, my character’s actions were exceedingly simple, merely waving about, but it didn’t seem to feel pain or die instantly from being hit.

“—!”

“–. –!”

While I drew its aggro, the two would automatically attempt to attack. Shura, wielding a dagger, executed a slashing attack, while Rasen, holding a staff, unleashed a bolt of lightning, both of which struck the creature hard, shattering it.

Unfortunately, the Essence of the Monster didn’t drop, but that was okay. This place was teeming with higher monsters that granted the Essence of the Monster.

If I just endured until the two got used to it, they would likely manage well on their own in this new hunting ground without my help.
