Chapter 17: What is it..
Victor smiled coldly, his eyes glinting in the dim light of the room. "Don't worry, Ethan," he said, his voice dripping with reassurance. "I'm not here to screw you over. We're allies, and I need you to be strong if we're going to pull off this heist."
Ethan raised an eyebrow, still wary of Victor's intentions. But as they sat down to plan the details of the heist, he began to feel more at ease. Victor was a professional, and he knew how to get the job done.
As they pored over the blueprints and discussed the finer points of the plan, Ethan found himself relaxing in Victor's presence. They were both men who knew how to get what they wanted, and they worked well together.
After they finished planning, Victor suggested they celebrate with a drink. Ethan agreed, and they headed to the bar, where they ordered a round of whiskey.
As they drank, Victor told stories of his past exploits, regaling Ethan with tales of daring heists and narrow escapes. Ethan laughed and joked, feeling more and more at ease in Victor's presence.
As the night wore on, Victor suggested they invite some company to join them. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, speaking in hushed tones to someone on the other end.
A few minutes later, two girls walked into the bar, their eyes scanning the room until they spotted Victor and Ethan. They smiled and waved, making their way over to the table.
Victor introduced them as Sophia and Maria, and Ethan couldn't help but notice how beautiful they were. Sophia had long, curly brown hair and piercing green eyes, while Maria had short, spiky black hair and a mischievous grin.
As they sat down, Victor leaned over and whispered in Ethan's ear. "I thought we could both use a little... distraction," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, but he couldn't deny the attraction he felt to Sophia. She was beautiful and a wonderful distraction.
As the hours passed, the group grew more and more raucous, laughing and singing along to the music. Ethan found himself having the time of his life, and he couldn't help but feel grateful to Victor for introducing him to Sophia.
But as the night wore on, Ethan began to feel a twinge of guilt. He was having fun, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow betraying Beatrice.
He pushed the thought aside, telling himself he was just being paranoid. But as he looked over at Sophia, he couldn't help but wonder what Beatrice would think if she knew what he was doing. Then he scolded himself, Beatrice was a pregnant widow and she could never be interested in him.
Ethan and Sophia had been kissing passionately in his room, their bodies entwined as they explored each other's lips. But their romantic moment was suddenly interrupted by a knock at the door.
Ethan groaned in frustration, not wanting to be disturbed. But he reluctantly got up to answer the door, hoping it was just a neighbor or a delivery person.
As he opened the door, he was surprised to see Beatrice standing in the hallway, looking stunning in a yellow sundress. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail, and her eyes sparkled with a mixture of surprise and embarrassment.
For a moment, they just stared at each other, Ethan's mind racing with thoughts of how he was going to explain the situation. He was half-naked, with Sophia's lipstick still on his lips, and Beatrice looked like she had just seen a ghost.
"Beatrice, what are you doing here?" Ethan asked, trying to sound casual despite the awkwardness of the situation.
Beatrice's eyes darted to Sophia, who was still lounging on the bed, looking seductive in her little black dress. Beatrice's face turned bright red with embarrassment, and she looked away, trying to compose herself.
"I...I just came to tell you that my dad invited you to a gathering tomorrow," Beatrice said, her voice cold and detached. "But you don't have to come if you don't want to."
Ethan felt a pang of confusion, wondering why Beatrice seemed so upset. He didn't realize that he had hurt her, because they weren't dating yet. But he was attracted to her, and he had been trying to find ways to spend more time with her.
As he looked at Beatrice, he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked, even heavily pregnant. Her belly was round and full, and her skin glowed with a healthy pregnancy glow. Ethan felt a surge of attraction, and he wondered what it would be like to be with her.
But he pushed the thought aside, knowing that it was too soon. Beatrice was still grieving the loss of her husband, and Ethan didn't want to complicate things.
"It's okay, Beatrice," Ethan said, trying to sound sincere. "I'll come to the gathering tomorrow. And maybe we can talk about...about something?"
Beatrice shook her head, her eyes still avoiding his. "No, it's fine. I just need to go."
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Ethan feeling confused and frustrated. He didn't know what he had done wrong, but he knew he wanted to make it right.
As he closed the door, Sophia got up from the bed and walked over to him, a concerned look on her face.
"Is everything okay?" she asked, her voice soft and gentle.
Ethan shook his head, feeling a mix of emotions. "I don't know. I think I just did something wrong, but I don't know what it is."
Sophia's eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she just wrapped her arms around Ethan, holding him close as he tried to process his emotions.
