Chapter 129: Chapter 128: Recruitment -2
"Then I can be your Daddy," you joke with a smirk.
"You are so bad!" Jean exclaims with a blushing face as she slaps your arm.
"If you would join our school, then I might think about it," she says, looking away.
"Sorry, Jean, my schedule is very hectic. I can hardly attend my own college. I wanted to visit Marie and you all, but it took me three whole days to arrange that," you explain with a wry smile.
"I-It's fine, Luke. I understand you own a multinational company and are also completing your doctorate at ESU. It was selfish of me to ask you to join the School," Jean responds with a sigh.
"Hey, how about this? You can keep a room empty for me. This way, I'll have a room to crash in if I want to stay here overnight," you suggest, not wanting her to be sad.
"Really?" Jean asks with a bright smile. "This is great! We can have movie nights and play board games. It will be so much fun!" Jean exclaims happily.
"You are really passionate about this school, huh?" you say with an amused smile, as in your mind, the games you were thinking about were more like the games you played at your aunt's house.
"Yes, very," Jean says with a smile. "I really miss my school days," she adds with a reminiscent smile.
"But you should still be in high school, no?" you ask her curiously.
"I stopped going to school as soon as I entered high school," Jean explains, keeping her hands folded on the table, her face a bit sad. "You see, I don't have just 'Telekinesis' as my power. I can also read minds. B-but don't worry, your mind ... just like the professor said, is like a void, so I can't read yours," Jean hurriedly explains, worried that you might be wary of her.
"It's one of my powers. It makes me immune to telepathy," you nod with a small smile, placating her concerns.
"I am glad that you have this power, as it is honestly relaxing sitting here talking with you. If it was someone else, then I have to actively stop myself from reading their mind or even their surface-level thoughts," she remarks with a wry smile.
"That sounds exhausting," you sigh, taking her hand in yours.
"It all started in school one day ... during a lecture, I could suddenly hear the thoughts of everyone in the school. From my best friend who was secretly jealous of me to the thoughts of the boys in my class, how my teacher hated teaching in the school, even my principal's thoughts about swindling the school's money, I could hear all of it, all at once!" Jean recounts with a pained look as she closes her eyes.
You go ahead and hug her, making her eyes open wide as you feel her amazing breasts squish against your chest. "You must have been so scared," you whisper softly as you caress her back.
"Yes," she murmurs, melting in your arms. "I had passed out then, and the professor had to be called by the teachers. Professor Xavier then started teaching me how to control my new powers, but it was hard for me to control them, especially in crowded areas, so I quit school. Scottie also quit so I wouldn't feel alone here," Jean murmurs quietly, getting more and more comfortable in the hug as you activate your Angel's Aura.
"That was so nice of Scottie," you say as her red hair tickles your face.
"She is the best ... I had just mentioned to her once that it would be cool if this mansion itself were converted into a school for kids like us. Then just the next day, Scottie went to Professor Xavier with this idea, and the professor agreed. From then on, we have been trying to convert this place into a school, and now we finally have Marie as our first fellow student," she says with a smile as she ends the hug, looking at you shyly.
"So if I deactivate my power of Psychic Immunity, would you be able to tell what I am thinking?" you ask, looking at her gorgeous face and her plump red lips in front of you.
"I-I don't know. The professor says I have gotten better at controlling my … powers," she says softly as you both inch closer and closer.
"Huh? Professor!" Jean abruptly backs away, standing up from her seat.
"Luke, the professor is asking me to bring you to him," she says with a blushing face.
You curse the baldy in your head for ruining the good moment, as you get up and follow behind a red-faced Jean.
Jean takes you downstairs through an elevator. "This is our secret basement," Jean tells you as you get out inside a long corridor.
"Sure ... every house/school should definitely have one of those" You say with a chuckle to clear the air.
You both walk ahead, and just at the end of the corridor is Ororo standing in front of a big X door that you are very familiar with from the movies.
"Lucas, I didn't know you had come to visit us!" Ororo looks pleasantly surprised to see you.
"You were busy tending to your gardens, so I didn't notify you," Jean says with an awkward smile.
"Do you like gardening, Ororo?" you ask with a raised brow.
"I love to take care of the plants and flowers. If you have time, I could show you my garden," Ororo answers with a smile.
"I would love to." Just as you say that, the door opens, and you see a large hollow spherical room.
You all walk over the short bridge inside this huge room where the professor is seated, wearing a helmet connected to a computer-like device.
"What is this all?" you ask, feigning ignorance of the room that you have seen many times in the X-Men movies.
"This is Cerebro, Lucas. It is a device that magnifies my psychic powers, allowing me to reach out and identify mutants," Professor Xavier says with closed eyes.
"That is impressive," you remark, looking around the room. "So you can identify all the mutants around the world with this? Did Helen make this?" you ask, noticing the circuitry lining each of the panels in the huge room.
"No not every mutant ... it was definitely capable of that a long time ago, but it was damaged. And Helen didn't make it, but she managed to get it operational again. At the moment, its range is limited to our country. However, Helen has assured me she will do her best to fully restore it," Professor Xavier says, opening his eyes.
"Well, maybe we should add some Holographic projection panels so that whatever you see can be displayed outside too," you suggest, rubbing your chin and noticing the distinct lack of any imagery devices which were seen in the movies.
"I am sure Helen would be more than happy to brainstorm with you about it," the professor replies with a smile.
"Professor, did you find another mutant?" Jean interrupts your talk.
"Yes, two, in fact, both from the same area. I managed to pinpoint and track one of them," the professor replies, removing his helmet. "This time, the three of us will go, and Luke, I would be happy if you could join us," he adds with a smile.
"Sure," you readily agree, as honestly, you were here today because of this new mutant update that your Index had gotten, and you wanted to check first if the X-Men were also 'up to date' with that news.
"What about the others?" Ororo asks, going behind the professor and pushing his chair out of the room.
"Scottie has gone out to try out her new bike, a gift from Luke," Jean says as Ororo looks at you and mouths "thanks." "Marie wanted to spend time with Luke, but according to her timetable, she has combat lessons with Logan in the Danger Room, so she must be suffering alone in there," Jean says with a pained smile, obviously having suffered from Logan's lessons. "Helen is busy with something in the lab," Jean says, giving you a side look.
You had sensed that Helen was avoiding you, and based on what Jean mentioned, it seems to be because of the stunt you pulled last time when you powered off Scottie. Apparently, Helen is either afraid or uncertain about its effects on her.
"Alright then, let's set off," the professor nods along, wheeling towards the elevator.
